So my buddy has a 2008 Grizzly 660, and every time we put it in the back of a truck or on a trailer and transport it somewhere it does not want to start after the trip. Last time I pulled it on my trailer I had to pull the pull cord and press the starter just to get it to turn over. I'm thinking the fuel is leaking into the cylinder during transport..? If it sits motionless for 3 weeks it will fire right up but as soon as you put it on trailer and pull it somewhere it does not want to start. Anybody experience this?

turn fuel off after loaded. back on when want to restart... its flooding
Why would the needle be letting fuel past? Is there anything we can do to stop it other than turning the fuel off? Is it possibly just because it's gummed up from say, old fuel?
And why would it only happen when it's in motion? Sorry I don't have a lot of experience with carburetors. I know how they work.... short of that I don't really diagnose them much

I recommended seafoam to him because I assumed that it was flooding. He hasn't tried it yet I just thought I would throw the question out there and see if anyone else has experienced this. I have never experienced this with any other carbureted engine that I've ever dealt with quad or otherwise.... so I figured I would ask

It's the float bouncing around, all carbed quads, bikes ect will do this

I also find filling the quad up after unloaded helps with not doing this

Just curious how filling the quad after it's unloaded would change it? If the level in the carburetor is the same regardless of the level in the tank why would it change? Is it the weight of the amount of fuel above it?

If something is sticking the Sea foam is a good option. My old grizzly did the exact same except the float would stick closed not allowing fuel in. Can of foam is easy and cheap place to start

I just find it strange that I've transported numerous carbureted quads and I've never had this issue until his and it's only started this year. He's owned this machine for 5 years plus

With it full and to the top, the psi in the tank pushes past the needle, mabe the tank cap isn't venting right

My brute force used to in the trailer and only trailer if full, not in the truck box tho

My 660 grizzly has done this since day one. I consider it to be normal for this machine. I also use a splash of seafoam every tank just for fuel stabilization because mine sits for long periods. It has not helped with the flooding situation.

Maybe it's the design of this particular carb...?

It can also be that the floats are done. Seen it happen many times on bikes, sleds, and quads.

Replace the floats and good to go
