a few years ago (i was 12 , i'm 15 now) i had a wanted add up the said 90 yamaha exciter 570 trade for dirt bike. the sled was worth $700. well a guy called and said that he had a 82 suzuki rm 250 and a honda cr80 and he told us that the suzi needed a cdi and the cr80 needed a carb clean so we said we will take it! we later found that the honda needed a piston because the moron put the wrong spark plug! and the cdi has gone exstinct! so we never got either of them running! a yr later he called and said that the sled had gotten stolen! haha! and he had the nerve to ask if we had another one for him! anyone else have something like this happen?

no body ripped anyone off, well the guys that stole his sled ripped him off. maybe he wasnt aware it needed a new piston, just thought it ran like chit because of the carb. and how would he know if the cdi off the other bike was obsolete?

I will agree with the CDI part.... He might not have known, but as a buyer, i would have checked into this, specially on a 1982. The powersports industry usually has a 20 year rule for these parts, which in a basically means "most parts are available for 20 years, better selling parts last longer, poor selling parts don't make it to 20 years"

the bike did not run at all! but i talked to my mechanic before i bought it and he said he would get it running on trade for some atv tires we had! he opened it up and there was the hole!:( but you guys are right i should have looked into the cdi!:( and i think i got ripped!! he got (and lost) a 700$ sled and i got junk! it just makes me mad to think their are people that do that!

It's like the old saying, treat people like you would like to be treated. Sometimes you get junk, other times you get gold. I'm very deep this evening, but it's true.

I had a sled forsale one time and this guy came and looked at it, tried to bargin me down lower than low, I wouldn't budge that low so he moved on. The next day the same guy called me and told me he had bought a different sled (which was cool to let me know he wasn't buying mine) then he tells me he took it for a rip on the blindman and it seized up on him. He wanted me to tell him how to fix it. I just told him mine wouldn't have seized up and he should have bought it.

I was almost ripped off online just the other day. There was a Polaris Ranger RZR for sale for $2500.00 I couldn't believe it. Well needless to say it was a scam. But I did my research and well if something is too good to be true it probably is! And the add is still online at craigslist SO BUYERS BEWARE!!!
