I've been around the block with tires. Hate them as I only get a summer season and 1/2 on a "top of the line" set. I've tried every tire out there. I pull trailers for work and hit 30 miles or so a week on gravel.
I absolutely love my 20" I*pike RW11 studded tires from Kal Tire. I'm on my 3rd winter season and I can foresee at least 2 more winters. I'm wondering if I run them in the summer if I would get the same longevity out of them. Cant say enough about them.
The wife and kid have the Nokian studded on their cars. Nokian are great for cars, but not for heavy trucks

I just put a set of Hankook iPike RW11 on my diesel as well. Had the Dynapro RF10 all terrains on prior to these. Got great wear out of those and the guy that recommended those to me has now gone to the RW11's all year round and is getting nearly the same mileage out of them. Not studded of course. I'm going to run these year round.

I had this tire on my 02 cummins and they lasted 3 winters did lots of driving between Kelowna, red deer and High Prairie.. loved them... mine were not studded but the same tire as above... they worked great in deeper snow as well... i have tried the duratrac and love them as an all terrain hunting tire but on icy highways they just didn't compare... mind you for spring break up on the clay roads we get here they were great...i have since tried the blizzacs as well and they are not as good on ice as the nokian and suck in wet conditions

I run Duratrac's on my Dodge dually and love them. Have lasted for about 65,000km so far and are at about 50% right now, that is with pulling a 17,000lb fifth wheel through the southern US for two weeks in 30+ C weather. Love them in the winter as well.

My shop performs studding. they need to be new though, Cant stud after they have been driven on. Fountain Tire Argyll.
I phoned around today you guys quoted me the best price and were the only ones that would stud. Still can't decide what to do. My biggest hurdle right now is to stud or not?

Go with the studded tires. They will help save your butt on black ice and the constant hard pack snow/ice thats chronic in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Shouldnt cost much more to install.

I think Duratracs are one of the best tires on the market right now (not just because I sell them) They are an excellent tire for snow, mud, dry etc. factory drilled stud holes and long lasting.

cooper AT3,s run them on my 3500 ram dually and 91 gmc...50k+ great tires in snow..quiet on hyway in summer no issues..been great all around tire for these parts

I have just under 50,000km on my duratracs ( All season driving) and theyre holding up good..have 40 % left probably. mostly highway on my 3/4 gas

I would recommend that if you buy studded, buy factory studded as the studs stay in much longer.
Restuudded my duratracs about 5 times..I like fresh studs. Changed them out when I could no longer hear myself in the truck. Sure get loud when they wear. Was told you can't restud tires....but its easy and I never lost a single stud. 1 ton chevy crew diesel.
