In all honesty I do not care about most of the identified platforms.

- Who is going to revamp the Social Welfare system to ensure that those who need short term help can easily receive it while those whom have become dependent on it must provide some service and submit to drug testing and self improvement plans.... continuing education etc.... no effort no cheque..... help yourself or die.
- Who is going to make prison more like prison and remove cable/internet/education etc. in minimum and medium security facilities I suppose education is alright because maybe some of them will actually get a job when they get out. Introduce eye for an eye penalties, unfortunately some folks deserve the death penalty. Prisoners should work and prisons should be run as a for profit business putting out some sort of product, this would lessen the burden on the tax base. I understand the potential for corruption and abuse in this scenario and do not have all the answers but I'm sure there are smart folks out there who could make it work.
-Who is going to ensure that portfolio ministers are actually qualified and understand what is required of the position, I don't care if they hire independent non-partisan consultants who are educated and the MLA's just do whatever.
-Who is going to provide the public with FACTS provided by independent qualified professionals regarding economics, immigration, environment, as opposed to spending all their time mud slinging. I want facts even if they are not good ones, I want honest good news and honest bad news, I want someone who says we can do this at the expense of this or another option is this and let the constituents take it to their voters to decide.
-Who is willing to review government spending on all levels, why can't my representative be more like me, stay at a Holiday Inn/Travel Lodge / Best Western when traveling, plan their schedule (within reason) around commercial airlines, take a cab or Uber instead if a stretch limo, NOT have the $17 orange juice with breakfast..... The waste is unacceptable and I figure should be an easy fix.

100% agree with the FACTS ..... with the internet these days, special interest groups, and competing parties with their own agendas.... it's absolutely trivial to publish/leak/release/twist data to support almost any position. It takes almost no effort to split a group of like minded people with a few memes. Even worse is trying to decide what is fact/fiction/propaganda.

What I'd like to see is:

Free Trade.... abolished. Canada is on of the very few countries that could actually survive on it's own, and completely within it's own borders. We have every natural resource (agriculture, oil, forestry, land etc) and the largest concentration of fresh water in the world. It might be oil now, but eventually water will be what drives people, and we have it. Free trade is only good for countries that need to benefit from our resource pool, without using a market system to determine it's value.... pfft we are giving it away and then thanking people for taking it.

Representative democracy - abolished. It's an outdated concept instituted for convenience..... how could everyone across such a large land mass have their input on every topic? They couldn't 100 years ago, today it would be no more than a website.. Facebook has a billion users.... 30 million should be a snap. Got a SIN? Log in and vote on issue X..... **** representatives that run on one platform and then forget all their promises. A true, direct democracy. Or at least make platform promises legally binding...... Put the budget online... .so we can see where the waste is.. which asshat had the $17 orange juice etc. All of these things are possible now, whereas they weren't 100 years ago.

Furthermore that data collection can't realistically be protected.... I'm sure you've heard of many million dollar companies being hacked, data breaches, username and passwords being stolen and released.... Ashley Madison? Target? Revenue Canada....? (the list in endless).

How long until someone simply steals the data and has access to all that you would trust the government with? Hypothetical obviously...... I do not trust our government to be responsible (or capable) of securing that data, to my satisfaction.

Read a few articles on Ars Technica regarding the NSA / Snowden / Prism / PATRIOT Act... these aren't the uneducated hill billy's being paranoid. I read the link referred to and it is all about fear mongering in the sense we will lose all our rights and freedoms and live in a police state. It's just the other extreme side. I guess I am naive enough to believe that an armed gestapo member will not be kicking in my door at 2 AM and arrest me for no reason. As you put it I have a better chance of being eaten by an alligator.

I have no problem with someone checking my phone records to see that I call my relatives and friends and businesses, book a tee time etc. or that I write an occasional email to government complaining about something that I disagree with, pay my taxes on time etc.

While I will probably never know any terrorists or anyone who promotes terrorism I may be affected by their actions and feel safer knowing that Bill C-51 may just prevent it. I see no reason to fear that legislation for most Canadians.

As for my vote Harper will get it. I am on a fixed income and the only reason I get a small increase occasionally is because of reductions in income tax since Harper has been PM. It may be selfish but good enough for me to vote for him again. You can rest assured that the Liberals and NDP wouldn't be lowering any taxes.
