Looks like I’ll be in the market for a used deck this summer. It’ll be my first. Any brands that I should look for or stay away from?

Depends how much you want to spend. I am sure there will people saying avoid one brand or another, we all have preferences. I have had a Denali deck for years now and other than rewiring it, (they are notorious for poor wiring), have had no issues with it. They are a Chinese knock-off of the Marathon deck and usually about half the price. JMHO

Jet Craft , hands down still the best deck out there. Plus it's very subtle on your truck, doesn't have big round sides sticking up and rail sides and headache rack that totally dominate the look of the truck. , especially if you use it year round. Was one of the first and still probably the best , they'll custom build in any features you want , but they're pricey. And essentially lifetime warranty on welding and parts.

Just stained my south deck, now need to redo/expand my north deck. Ohhhh oh... sled decks, yeah I have one of them too. Hydro is slick but you basically lose your whole box and a pain to move the hydro section in and out if you only use it seasonally. For a conventional deck full lotus is the best I've used.

I guess I’d kinda like to keep it around that $1500 mark if I could. Seems to be quite a few out there in that range. Thanks for all the help so far.

I've had my Cross Trax for a few years. It's 4 years old. It's given me no issue. Slides are still smooth. Extension works great. My only beef is the power block is wide open and is looked fairly rusty. It's likely one of my summer jobs to clean up, but I've had no power issues and would be more of preventative maintenance. I had a few questions about loading a side by side using the ramp and all communication with Cross Trax was great and very helpful. While my next deck will likely be another used one, I will probably look for another Cross Trax.

It’s great if you don’t mind losing 80% of your box and adding 1000lbs to your truck. Not an option for most. Especially those with short box trucks and 3/4 tons.

I prefer my old school STF. Built in 2002. Modifyed last year to shorten it a bit, powder coat and re-sheet and it’s every bit as good as a brand new 4g one.

I had a TruckBoss which I really liked. However I sold it to buy a M-Line which would be easier to pull in and out each season.

I like the finish of the TruckBoss better but this M-Line is built well. I’d recommend you make a list of features you want then find a brand from there. My personal opinion is you want a telescoping ramp and a flip extension (if on a short box). I hate the stupid extension on my M-Line.
