Lookin for a first week of may trip. Just wondering how the locals estimate the snow to be. If it's worth it to come here or go elsewhere?

Looks like it will be good. 20-30cm forecasted over this weekend. As long as it gets sunny the alpine will be amazing.

quartz creek was good on satdy, the trail is in better shape than this time last year, but still has bare patches that are growing by the day. but quartz is tracked out unless you have some secrets.
there are some numbers in the forcast but fridy is gunna get warm. most other days should be reasonable temps for late april.
I would recommend gorman if the vis is good to push into cirque and beyond, or silent pass. gormans last groom was last wensdy nite if I'm correct, and silent was to get a last groom early this week, but I have been wrong before eh.

we only had 1 real warming event this season in march and otherwise temps up top have been rather cool. thus the snow is still good to snowboard even.
fun is still to be had, its not deep snow but you can go everywhere with ease.
I really dont know how other areas like reve sicamous are, but I'm guessing they cant be any worse than here as they had a better season than golden.
if you dont mind a challange and you DON'T have a 4 place trailer think hope creek as it got way more snow than golden.
chatter creek got smashed hard in the last few weeks and had 20 guests yesterdy, hope always has far less traffic than everywhere else around here

We were at hope last weekend on sat.... Found a new zone up there which was nice and shortcut into the area, but the trees and regular bowls up there was hard. Maybe spindle deep at best. Trail in is still garbage. I would not recommend the ride or drive given that crappy trail.

I will say the grader was up there last weekend so the road is baby butt smooth for now

Wow guys that's great information! I have a sled deck but was considering brining a trailer as well fit more guys in make trip less money. Golden is a lot closer then most other places. I was hoping to try all the areas golden has to offer.

I gotta admit I was surprised to see this cam,
but quartz is over rated and tracked out far too quikly unless you have secret stashes.
quartz is for early season and days of poor vis and high avy danger.

gorman has a billion times more terrain with mega alpine, but without good vis it has little to offer.

If you like taking risks and don't mind scaring the sheet out of yourself, you know how to find me ...
but be prepared to dig out sleds alot. its only golden thus not a deep snow pack ...

Staging area is right off the highway with good parking areas until everyone parks like azzhats later in the mornings.

quartz does have good trees riding and lots of little hidden gems that most people wouldn't find if they weren't shown. its my go to place in poor vis for this reason. there are a number of (relitively) safe places to play in trees on high avy danger days.

4 place trailers are no prob at all at quartz, just don't get there at 1130 and expect to turn around as it seems most guys can't back them up and take up as much space as they possibly can.
