We were on our way to Quartz this morning and about 15 Km's out of town lost my surpentine belt; bearing fell out of one of my idler bearings. Sunday morning and what to do? Limped my way back to Golden.

Lordco parts and Kim (A.K.A. Kim's towing) worked frantically to find a bearing that would fit. Found a bearing and then Kim and I worked hard to press out the old race and put in the new bearing. Kim and Lordco never gave up. We got it back together and was back on the road.

Thank-you Kim and Lordco parts for being there when others said come back Monday!

Many Thanks......

Note to Duramax owners: Carry spare idler pulley's, tension pulley and surpentine belt. I had a spare belt today, good thing because Lordco did not have one in stock.

Good post. Ford v/8 owners need to carry idler pulleys also or get them checked. I have done a few for sure. Idler pulleys are cheap buy the whole thing bearing and pulley not worth trying to change just the bearing. Give all those idlers a listen next time you open your hood. Could save you a bunch of hassle trying to get the belt on in the middle of nowhere in the dark on a busy highway in the rain, snow, wind, sleet, duststorm whatever. Got my point?

So right Sledderglen,

We came down Silent Saturday night. Would not want to come down with no power steering, power brakes, water pump, etc.....

you're lucky, my idler went out of my duramax, 5 km past weigh scales west of calgary, took out the fan blades also, lucky didn't hit the rad. so if you hear a slight ticking noise in the engine compartment, park it. oh yea, was real fun driving back into calgary to jack carters on deerfoot in morning rush hour, with armstrong steering, and manual both feet on the brakes.

Hey Taz,

I am around 230,000 km on a 2002 duramax. Ordered two new pulley's, tensioner and belt this morning. I will change out this week and keep the other stuff as spares in the toolbox.

That is good customer service.
Didn't someone on here have some issue with a dealership about a bolt or something as an example of bad customer service? Where is that thread?

I have had good luck pulling the seal off the back of the bearing and pack em with grease once in a while.Even if I put a new one on I pack them. There is very little grease in them so they will fail.
