What would you say we saw at the Mines on Saturday? 20 sleds? Maybe? The report we got in the morning from the girl was there was a lot ahead of us that were going to the Silver Mines, yet we were the first group at the staging area. Sledders are our own worst enemies. Ride in area that requires a trail fee, pay the f'ing trail fee and quit being a douche.

Makes me shake my head how guys can pay all the money to get into sledding and go on sled trips yet bitch about a $20 trail pass or just blow by the toll booth... sledders like that make the rest of us look bad, just like the guys who cant pack out there effing garbage or empty cans!! Useless

That's what my buddies always complain about but it needs to be viewed from the lens that the clubs have a way bigger voice in keeping areas open and advocating for the sport and hobby as whole. Suck's paying I get it. Revelstoke is always groomed and busy. Go there.
I have had the conversation with tons of ppl about getting yiur cash in the box when there's no one at the booth but most rarely do.

You're not paying $20 for grooming, you're paying $20 trail fee. This money goes towards alot more than just grooming, cabin repairs, club insurance, summer trail repairs etc.

I have around 8 days in this year to Quartz and Gorman- trail has been excellent every day in my personal experience.

They schedule grooming for Thursday nights. Was at Silent last Friday and the trail was great.

Ya hoping it's good for the weekend. If it's groomed Thursday might sneak in there tomorrow and take advantage of breaking in some belts on a groomed trail! Thanks for the update

Back to the trail fee...over the years club has finally got enough money to put a warming hut up in Gorman so that is coming very soon. It has been approved and they are working on it, I know they are also working on approval and funding for a warming hut at Silent. Out of their whole tenure Silent is the area in need the most for a warming hut facility due to its remoteness.
Let’s remind our fellow sledders the importance of contributing to the club fees. It helps us enjoy improvements like warming huts and benefits like grooming and trail maps that the club bring to our riding area. It also helps clean-up of areas in summer and benefits our overall footprint on the environment. They are also our voice as sledders to the government and other user groups which keeps our areas open and gains us access. Hopefully one day we have a warming hut at Silent, That would be awesome, but money needs to come from somewhere.
Maybe at Silent the club should look at a variable trail pass/ road maintenance fee depending at where u are going. Every truck headed up could be charged Maybe $15 a sled or produce a season pass to use the road to access anything off that road and $25 to go up Silent or season pass due to the grooming.
Club should look at different strategies like working with local Golden businesses and work out some deals where u get a food discount or beer etc, at there establishment when u produce a paid day ticket at the business on that day? Gets users to buy trail passes and gets sledders into the business spending money. Couple good ideas to voice around to help out our favourite riding areas.

Was up quartz with my daughter today and parents. Snow was deep! Easily headlight and a lot of handlebar deep. Getting tracked but still plenty to be found if you get off the beaten path.
I was at Quartz also on Saturday with my two boys. It was nice to see some families up enjoying the sport. We came down to the cabin arund 2:30 for a snack before we went up the other valley. There was alot of sleds and people/kids around. Some snowboarder got on his sled and pinned it wide open and slammed into a guys new polaris about 50ft from the cabin! I couldn't believe what i was seeing! It happed ten feet fom where my kids and i were parked. I dont know if he was drunk/stoned or had never driven a sled before. The guy who owned the sled came out of the cabin and he was very calm and cool about the whole thing. There was a lot of damage to both sleds. If he had hit one of my kids it would have been a different ending for that guy! I dont know if anyone else on here witnessed this Saturday?

Sure was deep on the weekend. The 40 minutes of sunlight were amazing.
Found lots of untouched areas. This one was by far the deepest. The guy in the middle of the pic is standing on his sled. He tapped a tree with his brake lever and try to pin it out. Sunk down just a touch.lol

We were in silence on the weekend, in the back bowl heading to the furthermore back bowl just passed the burn saw a black stake with orange ribbon around it does anybody know what that means, did not say anything on it, have rode that area a lot and never seen it it looks like somebody just put it up.
