Kind of makes a joke of the sport if an expansion team can come in and win the championship in their first season. I get that a lot of Oilers, Flames and Canucks fans are in the market for new teams to cheer for especially in the playoffs though. Go Caps.

If the Oilers, Flames and Canucks all had the opportunity to pick 4 second lines and a great goalie without the hassle drafting disappointing players and fail at making the good players, they'd all be in the playoffs too...

$500M got him a pretty impressive expansion draft situation.

Interesting how the salary cap was implemented to keep richer teams from buying a championship then they let someone come in with $500M and pick from teams years of development and negotiation with such one sided rules.
Get to go through it all again in a few years with the next expansion team.

Do you know of a procedure that would be better?

It's not like these teams get to grab the superstars....they can only pick the one or two players who you (as team owner) agree to give up.....not sure of a better way.

These Vegas players, who are really classified as "rejects" because they were dispensable by their previous team, probably have a mental chip on their shoulders that they are going to prove their old bosses wrong. So now you have 30 players out trying to prove they can do it and they can......no real superstars on the Vegas team....no McDavid's, etc....just a desire to prove that they can do it....and win or lose in this series.....these guys proved quite a bit!

Maybe there wasn't a better way to allow them to ice a competitive team as they wanted to do, but everyone from Bettman to Daly to McPhee all said that it was a favourable expansion process.
I am indifferent either way, just pointed out the slight hypocrisy I noticed. Can't deny the desire, hard work and some luck this year for them.

I don't know nor have I heard of a fairer process....until then, GO KNIGHTS GO!!!!!

I'm with you with regards to being nervous but not with the nail biting. If they don't win tonight, the cup will go to Washington because they will not win 3 in a row against them when Washington is this close. Going to be a good game.

Pre-game cocktail is beside my keyboard already!
