Approximate payload capacities are 3,000 lb (1,400 kg) for the F-250 Super Duty, 4,000 lb (1,800 kg) for the F-350 Super Duty with Single Rear Wheels (SRW), and 5,800 lb (2,600 kg) for the F-350 Super Duty with Dual Rear Wheels (DRW). By direct comparison to the F-250 SD the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD/GMC Sierra 2500HD is rated at 2,600 lb (1,200 kg) max and the Dodge Ram 2500 Heavy Duty is rated at only 2,100 lb (950 kg) max payload capacity.

Approximate towing capacity for the F-350 Super Duty is 19,200 lb (8,700 kg) max. By direct comparison Dodge Ram 3500 Heavy Duty is rated at 16,400 lb (7,400 kg) max and Chevrolet Silverado/GMC Sierra 3500HD is at 16,500 lb (7,500 kg) max.

HMMM. ford has twice the max payload and 2700lb greater towing capacity than GMC/Chevy or Dodge for similar year/body/drive line.

There will always be the Ford vs. GM vs Dodge arguement, but at the end of the day, a real truck is what you need it to do and what you want out of it. Do you want a truck you can brag about HP, or do you want a truck that can haul your toys legally?

i can tell by your two posts that you are a ford guy and thats ok. but you have some of the wrong payloads for chevy's. and comparing 2500HD's to 350's

2500HD crew cab:
2009 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Crew Cab Curb Weight & Payload - Tech Specs - Truck Trend

3500HD extended cab:

all the manufacturers make the numbers close or they would be at a disadvantage.

fyi the 2011 silverado dully will tow 20-22k lb trailers and 6335lb payload

Ok, I have to.

I've been a Ford guy all my life 79 F250 400, 91 F250 351, 98 F150 5.4, 99 F250 7.3, 2002 F350 7.3, 2004 Expedition 5.4.

For 07 I tried the Chev Silverado, really liked the truck, needed more pulling power. So This year, I just picked up a 2010 Dodge 5.7. Yes I know its a Dodge and you said no Dodges but, Don't discount the Dodge, at least take the new style (suspension) and engine for a test ride.

Truly, I like the Dodge way better than the Chevy for power and Ride.

Just my opinion and 2 cents.

I have heard, and im glad our mortgage is locked in for the next five years...

But if you can get good financing on a truck now, you'll be laughing when the rates go up. Also, if it's work related just write the interest off the top. ;)

I thought there was some secret insider information about financing a new vehicle; something along the lines of "all vehicles that are financed blow up" BOOM!

how are the 2010 6.4's?

has the dpf been refined so that people are no longer limping everywhere?

Should it be of any concern to someone looking at a 2010?

I think the 6.4 are pretty good now, only real problem is mileage and I dont think anyone will make a truck that will be really good.Plus you got warrenty and if you can save 20 grand why not.

Look on craigs list prices are so good down south right now you can get a 6.4 with like 15000km for 30 - 35 000$. New trucks are super cheap too even if you dont get the rebates.
