GEOS Insurance for Medivac and Search & Rescue

I tried posting in the Satellite phone section and received no response. So I thought I'd try here . I just purchased an Inreach Explorer. The company offers additional GEOS insurance for Medivac and Search & Rescue (at about $130+ a year). I'm not sure if this is covered in Canadian or if we need the extra insurance? Does anyone know? I have tried searching the internet but could find nothing. I would really appreciate any of your thoughts and input.

I would call Inreach or GEOS and get the correct info from them.

you don't need it in Canada.

there is no charge for a search and rescue call out in B.C.

Good point. Kinda like the ICBC agents around here that keep insisting liability insurance is mandatory to ride a snowmobile on a Forest Service Road.
