Is the Husky 94 octane with 10% ethanol OK to use or is ethanol at any octane rating a bad idea. Don't always trust premium 91 and don't want to buy/mix in the expensive race gas.

Enthanol blended fluels are bad news for most small engines. A quick google search yeilds many pages of people talking about their problems with E10. To my knowledge the only pure 94 Octane fuel is available from Chevron gas stations, which are only in BC. Another option you can look into is mixing your premium 50/50 with Avgas which I believe is available from bulk dealers. I know G & L Bulk in Olds sells it.

Ethanol blended fuels are "finicky" in most small engines, and also give larger engines with fuel injection problems..... Several manufacturers have warnings about ethanol fuels in their owners manuals.... Just sayin'. I'd personally steer clear of ethanol blends.

I have heard even the crap they put in Chevron fuel isn't good for sleds.
I only use PetroCan 91,but soon I fear it will be 10% ethanol soon too.

So what mods do you have that are making you want to step up to 94 octane? Octane is just a measure of the knock index of a fuel, not the energy available in the fuel. Ethanol has less available energy than gas, so less power per litre. Less energy available in E10 means either jetting or tuning changes to achieve the same power as regular pump 91. It will however prevent knock or detonation in higher compression engines, it just needs more fuel too make the same power.

No mods on motor other than y-pipe and pipe/can. Just wanted to make sure the engine ran a little cooler and I meet the 91 octane requirement. Just the cheap Ukranian farmer blood in me that didn't want to pay $3 a litre for race gas. :d I'll just get some race gas and run about 10% with ESSO premium.

why would you run any race gas other than just 91 octane fuel..... With just a y-pipe, pipe, and can, you don't need anything more than 91 octane!!!

How much cooler do you want to go? Heat makes power. Do you have a CHT or EGT to measure what your temps are? What are your plugs like?

No point in buying race fuel if its going to cost you HP.

If your engine doesn't need more than 91 octane.. running more octane will rob ur engine of hp... don't run any race if you don't need it. And since you are running stock top end with just pipe and y pipe... you do not need any race at all... be the cheap ukrainian and don't buy any race at all. If you want it to run cooler add some fuel to it.... either way you are going to rob fuel... just run it with 91 and save urself the hassle of 3$/L racey fuel
