here is a couple pic of how mine is set up.
As far as the battery, i have the 530 and i have it set to track in high detail where we go throughout the entire day and it can go the entire weekend without being charged (its not super cold in revy). As for the cost of a ram mount, if you have paid hundreds of dollers for a gps, $40 far a good safe mount is cheep insurance. I would also suggest purchasing topographic canada to see different elevations. This has helped us find new places to ride.

I used Sledn's idea of sponge pucks to isolate the RAM mounts. Doesn't eliminate the vibration completely but is significantly less than direct mounting.

do the ram mounts just snap in to the cradle or are they screwed at the back
like my garmin cradle?

just bought the ram mount. you have to buy 4 items to get all the pieces
and cost 60 bucks. Looks like it should work good. will post some pics after
I get it mounted

cats meow baby. this thing is awsome compared to the garmin mount.
I can keep it tucked down and still see it or raise it up if I'm completely
lost or fogged in. Thanks guys for your input I am glad I went with the ram mount:d:d:d

that is a ram mount, I think I will return the one I got and pick-up a ram.
Look stronger and I will figure out a better place to mount

The cradle mount is very sturdy. Rolled my Turbo down the heli pad at west ridge and it outlasted a boost Gauge! Try to get it lower down, but having it up on the bars makes it easier for tracking trail when the fog rolls in and then remove when not needed.
