Garmin Rino 655t in Canada?

Any updates on the 655t for canadians ? can we get topo maps to use in western Canada ? or should a guy just get the 650 ?

I went to Calgary GPS central and they gave me the pros and cons of both units. They worry that the 5 watt version can interfere with our beacons when in receive mode. Also for us here in canada Garmin is releasing a 2 watt 655t before the end of the year. According to gpscentral and bass pro. So I guess someone would have to figure out how important a camera is to you when deciding on what version is right. I'm still on the fence.

my opinion is it is just something else to go wrong, just about everyone has a camera on there phone that uses just about zero battery power in airplane mode.

You can buy the topo canada maps for the 5watt 655T. You have to choices. A preprogrammed microsd card or a dvd that you can download to multiple units. Just have to buy a 8g micro sd to do it.

Im currently researching what in want. The 650 or the 655t. I have no use or care for the camera but what i do like is the more internal memory that the 655t has and that might make my decision. I hate it when my GPS reaches the end of its memory and starts deleting Tracks. I think ill get a US buddy to buy it from Best Buy and bring it up, unless the post above about Cabelas works out. One question i do have for the guys running some of these is Does the battery last all day sledding in the mountains? Just wondering if i should buy two batteries. I used to run the Montana and i had it mounted to my Riser and i had to leave the screen on full light or the cold would get to it. I bought a cable to power it off my Sled but it for some reason barely powered it.

i brought a 655t back from the states one trip but in the end it didn't end well as I cracked the screen and had to send it in to be fixed, they would not replace it with a 655 only a 650 once they figured out I lived in Canada.. even If I were to supply an American shipping address they still wouldn't do it

I've never needed to swap out my battery during a day of sledding or atving (650 5W).

Can you notice the difference from the 5watt to 2 watt? Does it use the 5 Watt in Canada or does it switch automatically? Can you set weather it uses 5 or 2?

I couldn't tell you, never tried it in 2watt. You change the wattage in the radios settings.

one battery will last all day and night no problem
i have never compared the 2watt to 5 watt
i always get them in the states
