I think my battery is toast
it is only a couple years old and used it maybe a handful of times
battery only lasts a couple hrs and is dead
charged it up the other day and is dead again without any use
does anyone have a battery they don't need anymore or know where to get one at a decent price
im not impressed with this unit at all
it is the us model with 5 watts and from new it would only get 4 or 5 miles at best and that was in the wide open and could actually see the other guy in the truck
wouldn't recommend this unit to anyone

Well its a lithium battery, must have been over heated or shorted or over charged, they dont like that. mine is 6 years old still goes two days on a full charge. Also if its a 5 watt transmitting to a 2 watt they work like crap. change settings to 2 watt it will improve. or get everyone in your crew a 5 watt. Thats what we have found with them over the years.

Had a battery issue with a Montana gps I bought from a friend. I ended up just using regular aa's and a 12v charger on all machines. Has worked awesome since. I suggest doing the same if possible.

If it's a problem overcharging or over draining that ca used it the whey don't they have safeguards built in to not alow that to happen
Seems like lots of people are having battery problems with these things
Not impressed at all

I like Garmin. I have a pile of them. But I was never a fan of the rino. The idea is there but the delivery isn't IMO. Some guys love them and work great for them.

If you can switch over to sanyo eneloop rechargeable batteries. They have a higher capacity than most and work great. Iv had mine for about 8+ years and still going strong. Used to be able to find bulk packs at cosco. Also if you find the duracell rechargeable with the white ring around the top they are the same battery just re-branded iv only been able to find them at drug stores.

No the the 530s need to charge through the 4 contacts on the back of the battery with the special cradle.

I just ordered one through GPS city.ca mine was toast. Wouldn't turn on unless plugged in. Was 65 bucks I think. If you let them get completely run down over a long period of time it won't take a charge

Find and phone the 1-800 number for Garmin support of that product group. Be real nice, explain your positive experience with the product, and be clear that they can maintain you as a loyal Garmin buyer and ambassador, but that you need a battery on policy to make you feel like they've done you right.

You may may be surprised. If you get the right person, they can do this for you. I've received a free battery and a couple free cables from their aviation portable gps group.

If you make it clear that they can't salvage you as a customer, you're angry beyond reconciliation, they won't waste the resources only to fail to make you happy.
