Garage floor repair, any input appreciated.

Hey all. I have a garage floor that I was going to attempt repairing.

I'm tired of having a rough floor that holds all the road dirt that is hard to scrape clean in the spring.

• It's a 22 wide by 28 long garage.
• Original slab (1955) was a regular single, but it had an "L" shaped slab poured beside it to increase size.
• The floor is badly etched from years of use and salt
• Concrete is still fairly stable, as there is only some minor cracks.
• the l shaped joint has pulled apart (1"), but hasn't sagged too much, maybe ½" I see no rebar dowelling.

So what I was hoping on doing, is epoxy the joint, prep the surface, self level it, and have an epoxy finish on top.

I want to have the joints mended, and reinforced so there would be no more movement.

I am thinking that just the joint epoxy wouldn't suffice, so I planned on stitching it.

cutting ½" slits, 16" long by 2" deep every 2 feet perpendicular to the joints, then drilling a hole at the end of the slit.

I would drop in "U" shaped rebar, 16" with a bend at each end that is 1" long, and fill with epoxy.

This is my brainstorm, I am no where near a concrete specialist. I was hoping someone who has done something like this can chime in.

I am also wondering what a guy can do to prep and top coat the slab when done. It has a coat of green paint on it, from day one I believe.

Just jack hammer that **** out and start fresh.

For epoxy you can either acid etch, diamond grind or shot blast.

Acid etch being the least favorable.

Im not looking for a hospital floor Dave.. LOL Trying to keep a budget and still have a nice turnout.

I'd just move....
