what someone needs is a motion light that remotely turns a light on or something in your house to alert you when they first have access

The garage has a motion light and my house always has a outside light on. But the motion light turns on every time my dog walks by so it's mostly ignored.

Tie a string from your door knob to the trigger of a shotgun placed above the door...it won't go unnoticed when the s#%t heads try it again.
keep a sticky note on the fridge to remind yourself its armed just in case you forget and blow you toes off lol.

Yeah I'm looking at alarms. Putting in a steel door with steel frame. They shoulder checked the man door and split it where the handle is. 

Make sure if you put a new door in it opens outwards harder to kick door in then.

I've been working away from home a lot lately. The wife said some guy showed up knocking on the door well after midnight looking for gas, we live out on an acreage so who in their right mind starts going around well after midnight in an acreage subdivision looking for gas when town is less than 10kms away unless they're scoping out a place?
As soon as I get home a full 4 camera system tied into the home security system is getting installed.

Wife was freaked out to say the least. But comforted with knowing she's a sure shot with many toys available.

Lucky nothing happened. have heard of a few stories like this lately. All ended with getting their house broken into while they drove them to get gas or their vehicle stolen while they were gone.

I pulled up to my house about twenty minutes after someone boot loved th door in and caused a lot of damage and took a moving van full of stuff. Told the cops there was three of them was still in there and I had my 410 in the truck and I was loading it and was going in and for them to hurry up and cover me.....haha never actually pulled the gun out but that cop helicopter was there in three minutes and must have been 10 cop cars on my street 10 minutes later
