G4 Extra Idlers

I see the new sled comes with idlers at the front of the skid. Any of you putting more idlers on your skid? I was just curious for the groomed trail up to the alpine.

If you go back in time, the 2014's had two sets of idlers at the front. In 2015, with the T3 (and especially the 174) due to a weight scenario, there were no idlers at the front. In 2015, the sliders lasted from 300-500 km on the 174 (that's was the sled I rode that year so I am very familiar with slider wear). Many people put in two sets of idlers (just like the 2014's) and never looked back. The sliders were in great shape. Would one set of idlers have worked? I don't know but I would think it definitely would have been better than no idlers.

I am going to ride mine, as it comes out of the crate. I will be vigilant and keep an eye on the sliders. If there is excess wear, I will add another pair of idlers (at least this year they should be available and not back ordered for months like in 2015).

I too have a 174 that had no idlers in it. After first weekend the sliders were gone. I put in only one at the front and have 1500 km on sliders now. So one set seemed to work for me. I believe I used the holes in the rails that were the furthest back.

I had a 2015 163 summit x T3. Took out all idler wheels day I got it. sold it with 1500km and sliders still could have went another year. Just changed them took about an hour. Not that expensive. You just have to be aware and use scratchers all the time and always look for extra snow along trails.

This and 2015 was the worse year for snow so guys went a long way on ice with no scratchers. Sliders also have to be broken in and when they see just super hot and don't cool down they wear super fast. It is why the problem was sporadic. Nothing wrong with adding them though, not like your gonna feel the added weight.

174 with 900km no idles and sliders look great. Scratches down on trail and hit the fluff here and there.

I must of got ripped off?? My 2015 T3 163 didn't come with any idler wheels, but I did add a set.

Personally I don't think you need 4 idler wheels, but I would run 2 though forsure.
