Went to Kalispel for a winter holiday with family, first day there out of ten days kids wanted to ride around and have some fun, after a good warm up on all three sleds, they were off and less than twenty minutes later one was walking back..850 dead
called dealer in kalispeil and talked with service manager asking if they would look at it that today (29th dec, 10am) he had no time for me was his exact words, but might look at it the following week
i wanted him to do a quick compression test to verify motor was sound or we could have a parts comming, since we were there for ten days.. His answer was no way.. It got heated real quick, his name was Eric..
First thing next day we drove to there shop, and asked again, also asked for a replacement sled, both answers no and once they found out sled was from cdn dealer, there answer was no way, also mentioned it was not warranty down here..I asked to have there brp rep call me and answer was no!!
caled my cdn dealer and told them situation, had them call the Kalispel dealer and put pressure on, they did with out any change..
kalispel dealer had had a new 850 sitting on the floor as well and would not entertain the idea of giving it to us for the down time.. Once again it got heated..
Called cdn dealer and told them the over all situation, rentals were very hard to find this busy time of year, and we had family come to visit us down there with full content of riding, I told the cdn dealer, if we can find a rental, someone is paying this dam bill and it ain't me!!
called brp care yesterday and gave them the low down, had a quick call back and apology with comments that were much different than Jesico gave..
all dealers, cdn, USA are to fix sleds it they fall under warranty, and trouble shoot should of happened first day, to have parts comming ASAP, a dealer borrowed sled is given at dealer discretion, but in certain circumstances like this one, brp will make a good will with dealer for compensation to keep all party's happy.. And feels this would of, should of happened here..
Sounds like there here has been multiple complaints from this dealer, and it will be under review.. My answer was a service manager replacement..
droped sled off at Cdn dealer yesterday with numerous apologys, and promt service..
By the afternoon compression test done and pto piston was dead, said new motor on transit
"Will know better once it is torn down and we can look at the cylinder closely.
It does not look like it went lean and melted, almost looks like either a ring caught a port, piston failed or the cylinder coating failed at this point but it is pretty premature to say at this point."
so all said, thank god turbo was not installed yet.. because all this would of been blamed on silber.. And non warranty.. Been down that road before many times..
not sure this motor was as good as brp pretended for us to beleve it to be.. Sounds like it's been seen multiple times this year.. Be aware!!
