Just wondering if anyone is running full exhaust (y-pipe, pipe, can) on a etec. Any issues. Stock fuel mapping is sufficiant. Considering putting BMP on my XM. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I have a full dynoport set up. It came with the sled. Some erase arch said they are ok. Mostly its a weight saving tactic. Some guys are saying the SLP setup costs horsepower. I would like to see a dyno report that reflects that. All in all, it's not like 20 years ago when adding twin pipes and some intake mods could net you 10 more hp.
I just phoned Jaws today. They are releasing a single pipe, y pipe, and can setup that is supposed to make 10hp all the way through, and even a little more than that down low. Setup is going to cost 850 and another 450 for fuel controller. Be pretty tempting if it werent for needing a fuel controller. Makes it kind of a pricey setup.
Ran a full SLP last year. It loses some on the bottom end, has a bit of gain in mid and top. Change the ramps and spring to compensate for the bottom end loss.
Knew some guys that ran SPI, said the exact opposit of SLP. Gains in bottom and mid, but loss or eul on top end. I liked the SLP, i only sold it because Jaws system was coming.
Yes Gregg at Jaws has the etec system pretty much ready to go. Another week i think they'll be ready. He's playing with fuel mapping on the power comander. Should be around 12HP. I'll let yas know when mine arrives, first system should be here in a couple weeks.
I ran the full SLP at 1500 feet here in Sask and used the setup in the mountains. Sled 2013 146 summit with a 1.75 Ripsaw and the exact same sled to test against. The two Summits are virtually identical outta the hole as far as you can hold them. Changing to the SLP set up, right off the bat gained 150 on the tach. Secondly, cause traction issue outta the hole which caused my testing partner to get out a couple lengths BUT the SLP system really had legs in the mid and top end and would fly by the stocker EVERY time. The pipe had to b revved right on 8200 . In the mountains I've been with the stock and SLP, I'll pick SLP every time.
Installed the BMP y pipe and mid pipe this year and liked it last weekend. Sled might have lost on the bottom but "feels" stronger on the top end for whatever thats worth. It was cheaper than going back to stock... I had the Specialty Sled can on since new. Also was told to run 7800-7900 RPM with this setup... not sure if the etec likes that?
Gave two complete stock set-ups from our 2015's to a neighbour kid who got hosed on a used sled he bought, if you're still looking please PM me and I will pass your info on to him. He cut grass and shovelled driveways for 2 years to buy his own sled, paid $3,700 and the motor went the first time he used it - was a private sale so no going back to the seller. When I switched ours to full SLP they were just sitting around, and when I heard he was parting out his sled gave him these to sell so hopefully he can get enough back to buy something decent.
