Hey anyone been experiencing fuel shortage problems yet?? I know they are coming and we are just starting to put limits out. I heard some stations are shut down in whitecourt.

Seems to be a trend over the last few years around this time when the demand is really picking up for bulk fuel sales to oilfield and logging companies we experience shortages.

ran into this issue firsthand last week. petro can cardlocks were the first to run out, Whitecourt was only open twice a day, from 6am until 10pm or until fuel ran out, and again from 6pm until 10pm. High Prairie petro can was totally shut down, and the CO-OP cardlock in Thorhild had a notice on the card reader that all cards would be limited to 600 litres/day. haven't heard of any issues up here yet, fueled up last night at the CO-OP at the junction of hwy 2 and 688 with no issues or notices posted.

Its not just Petro that has issues though. I get that same list every day, and there are always more stations with no fuel. However, Esso, UFA, CO-Op Husky are all having issues with supply. The only cardlock with fuel in Whitecourt (Husky)only had 10,000 liters as of 3pm today. We are grabbing a 40,000 liter tank tomorrow to keep our trucks going. Getting tight out there!

it's called greed. best way to justify a price hike is to create a shortage. With the demand for fuel always on the increase one would think that it would be economically viable to build another refinery.

Maybe it's all the 1 ton diesel grocery getters that every household in Alberta seems to need that are burning all the diesel....
UFA in Whitecourt had diesel yesterday afternoon.

Suncor refinery (PetroCan) also had problems with their hydrogen supplier and had to cut capacity to less than half. That's why PCans are out of diesel. It will affect anyone who buys fuel from a fuel broker for their stations as well. Any other process upsets at other refineries will componund the fuel shortage.

Lots of oil, just can't make it into fuel.

We've been really lucky so far and haven't had to limit anyone. But I think that's going to be short lived. I know they like to keep us going because of the amount our site goes through. But I see the price raise substantially every week and its not coming down any time soon. We had word that it should only last 4 weeks. But ill believe it when I see it!

One of our trucks went to every cardlock in Whitecourt today, finally found fuel at Husky. 295 liters later, nothing but sputtering from the hose. 3/4 tank in the tractor, no fuel in town. Our bulk tank showed up this afternoon, but it is only 25,000 liters. Thought we were getting a bigger one. Then the fuel guy showed up and was only able to give us 10,000 liters! Leaning on them for more, but nothing certain yet. One busy night and we will have that drained.

went through whitecourt last night at 9pm and saw a truck fueling up at the petro pass.....not sure if he got anything but the pumps weren't blocked off. I fueled up at the co-op cardlock near Peace River before I left yesterday and again when I got back last night and still good to go there anyways.

you guys that get those low fuel/closure updates, could you post those lists daily in this thread? that would be cool....or maybe share the subscription link so anyone that wants the updates can get them.....
