Just wanted to share my solution to carrying a bit of extra gas on the trail...for myself or to help some unlucky soul.

Sled is a 2011 SnoPro M8 153

Rack is a 23 inch made by Vortech

Gas can is a 1.75 gallon Rotopak (but actually holds about 2 gallons).

The can fits perfectly inside the rack rails and rests on the rails and not the thinner tunnel. The slight pressure from the Rotopak twist mount (bolted to the tunnel) keeps it from sliding.

I have the mountain addiction rack with two 1.5 gallon cans. Works really well. Two rails bolt to the tunnel an the cans slide onto the rails and get clipped in. Way better than tying down a can like I used to do.

Yeah I thought about that but I had already mounted the Vortech rack and so the Mountain Addiction system would not fit.

The positive of the rotopax are a) super rugged and leakproof tank, and b) very flat, low profile

Both systems are good IMO though.

Went the same way. Love the low design and easy latching.
