Where are you hearing this??? I havent heard of one E-tec yet that has blown up...And some have far more than 1000km...

Mileage has been much improved over the 2010 P-tek that is all I can compare to...I have 2 cats as well and the E-tec will do about 3x as much mileage as my M6...

no more issues with skidoo reliablilty than any other manufacturer.

the etec i feel is far superior as far as reliability compared to previous models though.

i wouldnt hesitate to make that purchase for a second if it fits your riding style

my buddies freeride is good, 1500km not an issue until he tried a can out it was idling rough and throwing codes, pulled the can off and it was fine, fuel mileage is up for debate from person to person, my buddies etec is almost always better than my M8, but never has it been substantially better over 5L, in comparison to the powertec I don't ride either myself but the two in our group prove the etec to be far better, no hard starting after rolling them over, he seems to always get the highmark out of the two, and his mileage is better, I think both are good sleds for the person who likes them;) but if I was forced to ride either it'd be a freeride with the disconnects off

I have over 1500 km on my ETEC with no problems at all. Absolutely love it. Every 2 stroke out there will have some sort of issues at some point in time, But I have heard of no problems with any ETEC sleds yet.
