raptors...floats are a pain and you end up constantly playing with them

I have the Burandt editions on mine only cause I got a good deal on them. They're better than any other float I've used before. That being said I'd still go with Exits over floats

If you are the kind of guy that is willing to take the time to understand how the shocks work and set them up properly (Skinz has a great on line video) the Fox Evol 3's are an extremely versatile shock and would be my first choice. You can make them do a multitude of things well and can easily change settings on them. That said the most guys don't want to be bothered and this makes the Raptors or Exits that are set up for your weight a good option.

I still wouldn't run an air shock if they were free. Many friends run them and nothing but problems, at the worst time as well. Versatility vs reliability, that's the decision you have to make.

What issues are they having? Granted I have not run a set for more than 3 yrs, but have not had an issue yet. The Exits I ran gave no issues as well, but were heavier and not as adjustable.

I find most people don't need the adjustability. I don't use all the adjustability of my raptors but some is nice.

Don't buy into the fear, the air shocks of today are great.

Most of these guys are referring to air shocks from over ten years ago.

I highly recommend talking with Kurt from Nextech/carbon sled.

I ran fox qs3 coil overs with a float 3 in the rear.

This year I am floats with the QS3 on everything.

Blowing out as in not handling big jumps or drops? Or seal failure? I'm not a jump guy, to fat to fly!

Well any shock should have been rebuilt way before that.

Not surprised.

They were rebuilt and failed that same season, like I said many problems. They have tried many things but they still have problems. I get frustrated just watching them. Most are switching to coilovers after seeing my lack of issues.

Some had the dealer (not sure if they send them out or not) and other sent to local or shops within the country. Either way it doesnt matter, they failed. Even from new they didnt last long. Like i said versitility and lightwieght vs reliability, we are all free to make that choice but be prepared for the consequences. In the past the only thing i can think of where i was ok to give up some reliability is my old 12v cummins by turning up the power. I sure dont want to give up any on my suspension. I can handle the extra weight. Most of us carry around extra few pounds as it is, better performance gain of dropping them than in my shocks. Thats my opinion, You are all welcome to your own.

If you want the best shocks in the industry get a set of elka stage 4. There sold out of quebec and have pretty good turn around for completely custom shocks.

I've had a few Fox floats 1's and 2's blow out, and it's always the furthest point from the truck. Not sure how the new ones stack up but I'm not chancing it again.
It's coil overs from here on out.
