It's found on the 26 th, reported stolen on 28 th. Hmmmm????

Yeah nobody would leave it there. There is no hills at all to tow it from in there. Pretty much just flat all the way up Cabin Valley to the groomed trail.

Regardless of the situation, that's a fairly unique wrap, can't imagine someone on here doesn't already know who's it is and what happened. Probably though the owner would maybe rather just shut up , get the insurance money and not have to deal with it.

Thanks. Yeah, cleanup is our responsibility under our Management Agreement. Whether its sleds or garbage. Two sleds up there to chopper out - this one plus a burnt up one. The RCMP get the serial numbers - If theres no insurance to cover it, then its up to the club. Another one of those expenses people don't realize we have to cover.

both sleds are an insurance deal. have to wait for the ok to pull them out of there, should be handled by the end of week. we will be coppering them out and yes it is an expense to the club if no insurance.

and yet another reason membership dues and trail fee's have to increase, there is no way a Not for Profit CLUB can afford to be choppering other peoples units out of the back country.

Can't believe people would leave that there. I can see for a bit if they need a tow sled or a skiff to put it on. But just to leave it is crazy. 2 years ago I had a sled burn down on me in valemount. I had to leave it a week or 2 on the hill before I had time to rescue it. The first call I made was to Curtis telling him what happened and not to worry I will be getting that out. And I did get it out. But I feel bad I never went up in the summer to double check if something got missed.

Once a payout is issued to the insured the property belongs to insurance company and is their responsibility. If any club money is used it should be certainly reimbursed to the club, or a negotiated amount beforehand. We just had a buddy go thru a situation very similar to this with a truck in the river, we all learned a lot.

When you say insurance as stated here they have to pay for recovery. Do not release it without getting payed , do a detailed invoice and hold it till they send some one to get it. Tow company should call and have a cheque before you let it go and don't forget about storage fees. Insurance may tell you different but they are responsible and will try to f- k you around.

If its up to the club to get it out of there (if there is no insurance on it) can the club salvage parts off of it to try re-coup some of the costs of getting it out? There are probably parts that are still salvageable but not sure about the legality of that, would hate for the RCMP to try go after the club for possession of stolen property or something like that

If you read back on this thread the unit is reported as a stolen sled.
there is even a copy of it on record posted in this thread.

If the club gets to salvage it I'm sure the parts would move quickly. I know someone who could use the seat.
