Nah you done the right thing. Not only have you removed a hazard from the road you placed someones valuable sled in a safe place. Obviously you are a stand up person otherwise you wouldn't have posted it on this site. If you contacted the RCMP with the plate numbers and details at to where you found it they would have a record of that and you will likely get a call from the rightful owners. Years ago I found a trailer with two Yamaha Waverunners in the ditch. I couldn't do anything with them as the trailer was upside down and I didn't have a ball on the company truck I was driving so I just reported it to the RCMP. Two days later I get a call from the owners, thanking me for reporting it. They were on their was to lake on vacation and the trailer unhooked and they didn't realize it until it come time to back into the lake. They had no idea as to where they lost it.

Don't let the jabs get to you. In your heart you know you done the right thing.

I almost pissed myself laughing, sooner or later this guy will notice his sled missing. Needs to give a bit of a reward for this recovery.

Not jabbing just trying to make sure you have your based covered as it sounds like you do. Someone could easily turn it into a sled theft. He could report it stolen and you would be in possession of stolen property until proven otherwise. I think you did good so please don't take it the wrong way.

They usually get further west before being too gunned to not notice a sled falling off.

Hopefully you find the owner. This happened to me a few yrs ago when we went too Stewart in May. Got into Hyder a bit after dark checked into the hotel. Dropped the trailer at the hotel, had buddy's apex turbo on the deck. We went for a drive up the mountain too see where the snow line was for the next day. It was about an hr trip on a rough road. The boys were drinking and carrying on, we started going up the switchbacks and heard a loud bang. We couldn't believe it when we got out the truck. The old apex slid of the deck and landed on its skis, not a mark on it. Buddy must not of had the superclamp very tight, it was still locked in place lol... All I gotta say is good thing we left the trailer at the hotel and it didn't happen the next morning.

Can't babysit everyone all the time lol... Mine was tied down on the trailer for once and not on the sled deck. When I put that superclamp on its so god damn tight I can barely get it on lmao.

I'd report it to the RCMP in both AB and BC. Sometimes it takes awhile for a stolen report to go from provincial to Canada wide. This is how so many get across the border without getting caught.
Good on ya for picking it up.
