700m from the highway.Right where my cursor is, is where I'd say that photo is taken from, looking SW down the highway. Quite a bit farther away than they maybe originally thought, but still so close to the highway.

Stole pictures from the Edmonton Journal.Heard that on the news as well just now. So farther than my cursor, but still on that corner, is my guess. Will have to wait and see.
Ummm.... if you need a runway in the mountains, you always look for a highway. Pretty low chance of hitting someone in the short distance of actual landing. Most vehicles can get out of the way.It's sad for sure, but could could have killed someone else by landing on the highway.
