a thought I had, was what would a guy do in this situation if caught out in the bush. this fire accelerated extremely fast, not many places to go, no protection and usually never any water when you need it?

I have been in that exact same area many times, in winter though. 75 km back in there, 3 hr truck ride out, no way you could outrace this type of fire.

everything I'm reading states today is going to be worse than yesterday, temperatures are still very hot, and very dry, and winds are supposed to gust to over 50km/h tonight. The worst is not over, we all need to band together to support the people from up there, in whatever way we can.

Just seen his on fb...

We almost lost 29 fire fighters last night, they got trapped on the ground and took them 6 hours to get out. They had thought they lost them. After that they pulled everyone out cause it was too dangerous. Budget cuts have nothing to do with trying to put out the fire. It's just to big and dangerous. When the pulled off the bombers it was because of the updraft the heat was causing followed by a down draft which can cause the plane to suddenly plummet to the ground.

Feels like you are there reading it

I've also heard that they need phone chargers as well. People are trying to get in contact, but have dead phones.

Me and some buddies are heading up again tonight bringing water, a couple slip tanks of fuel, food and toiletries. Getting a little expensive so if anyone wants to drop anything off... ANYTHING would help.

I am stunned and speechless for the complete lack of care / emotion and action displayed by our federal government !!!!!!!
If these were Syrian refugees , he would be there putting a show on & shaking their hands .....
JT 's hatred of the oil sands and Alberta run deep .

These are fine hard working people from all over Canada , who have worked so hard and payed more than their fair share !!!
and to be almost ignored is the most disgusting act a PM can put forward...
Please when this is all over ... Remember who took action / and who didn't !!!
Hats off to Brad wall as the first leader to offer up help to those in need....

i am am so proud of the response by my fellow albertans though , truly great people no dought.
We have room and would be honoured to help some one who is displaced ...if you know of some one stuck , please get a hold of me .
Thanks to all the fire fighters and responders .... Heroes !
