Evacuating the whole city. 63 south closed. West jet sending every available plane that way. All the big camps north of town filling up.

As we watch the fires intensify in Fort McMurray we at Snowandmud would like all our members affected to know that you are in our thoughts and that if you need anything please don't hesitate to reach out to the site members, both via Facebook and the website itself. Please be safe all.
We all grouped together 5 years ago for Slave Lake and I'm sure we will all do the same for McMurray. Please members be safe.

Just heard the press conference.....9 bombers, 12 helicopters and 100 firefighters on the ground......100??????
Maybe if your Premier didn't cut the fire budget by $15,000,000, there might be more than 100 firefighters on the ground...???....

Well I got the call from my old crew and I'm headed up tomorrow night to help out will try to get some good pics if I get the time sounds like it's a monster up there

Very intense situation when you can only head north and the road ends soon food and fuel will run out, and yes they are limited by budget cuts for resources send the bean counters to fight it.

In her news conference, Notley said she plans to head up there tomorrow....I hope they give her a backpack sprayer and a shovel and send her into the bush!!!

looks real bad if people are heading north out of town, you can only go so far.
Ya that's just it can only go so far I have no idea where they are gonna fly us in yet, lots of info up in the air yet, hospital is shut down so hope and pray everyone up there gets out safe!

Seen some videos of the fire and wow some people are almost driving through the fire to get out. I texted a buddy that lives up there to make sure he's good. He said he's safe and isn't in to much danger. Hope all goes well up there. Hope Notthead reverses that budget so we can get more then a 100 fire fighters up there!

Can see the smoke from site and peps heading to camps north of town.
Some businesses and homes have been lost.
Not good for residents at all and when it's over it will likely be way worse than Slave lake.
Sad for the people, hopefully no lives are lost.
We are quite far away and the smoke is huge.
Most flights out grounded.
No more info than what is on the news.

You can see the fire in satellite images of North America. The weather guy on CTV news pointed it out.

My heart goes out to all the people who will have there lives turned up side down from this .... We have lost a house do to a fire and it is tragic... Trust me ! Thanks to the responders and firefighters who step in to a dangerous situation!
The only thing I can suggest is if you might know some one effected by this .... Call them ...don't ask them how bad it is . Just simply ask if there is any thing you can do for them...!!
This will mean the world to them ...trust me !
