As far as I know it is still closed, the club pres and others in the club feel they can ride where they want cause they can. Does not make it right.

I didn't realize there was a specific ski and board area in the Forster Watershed.......:) LOL This is a pet peeve of mine - Can't understand why peeps will ski on the only sleddable terrain around and then wonder why there are sleds on the same hill and potential conflict. You see this in Golden all the time, peeps riding the limited sled terrain there, tons of tree lines to pick and they wanna carve the open sled hills right where the sleds ride. I don't get it. Shuttle to the top, ski off a few hundred meters to the sides, then make your run. Someone please enlighten me I guess because I see no reason to ski/board in the middle of the sled hills.

As for riding on the glaciers - I thought North Star and Catamount were off limits and any terrain above a certain height. Ask Pano-dude. He can tell you where you can and cannot ride. One of the club ex-presidents told us it was OK to ride up to the Dave White Hut too one time...... Maybe someone affiliated with the club can comment on the glacier issue.

The gas drop is called the gas drop because you gotta drop your gas there.

Thanks for the clear up pano, as i said before if I had known that it was a no go zone, wouldn't have been in there, just going off what we were told that morning, by people we thought had the correct information.

I know the club has an application in to gain access. It's Not your fault when the club reps say it's ok.

I am split on sleds gaining access, the sledder in me is stoked, the ski touring side of me not so much.

Well it was some awsome sledding in there, grip it and rip it all day long. There was a couple of people skinning in there, tried to stay away from them and let them have their space. Not like we didn't have enough:d

rode there on sunday as well! the sign was covered, and no literature at the cabin or sign posted on the trail up to the glacier about it being closed, so we rode it too! we also saw the skiers up there and steered well clear of them just so not to cause any issues!

yeah, pretty decent. the lower main areas were fairly tracked up, but lots of good riding to be had if you just looked a little harder

Frankly, I'm not sure there is a huge difference in 'sled' hills or 'ski' hills.

I ride in Golden quite a bit, sled skiing is big there moreso in the last couple yrs it seems, see lots of people riding.... say Quartz Creek, they have lots of areas where sleds cannot access or because it is too steep or above a rock cut etc., but they pull out and ride the big back bowl right where all the sledders ride. Pretty much one of the big hills in the area that can be accessed by sleds, so you know that sledders will be on it. There is a bunch of alpine that drops into trees, to the west/northwest of the cabin, and some guys board/ski there, lots don't though, sled access is not possible so why not ride it? Instead they build a big kicker in the middle of the sled hill in the back bowl. This is what I was calling a sled hil vs a ski hill. Ski hill being somewhere that sleds cannot access.

Not trying to start anything, just looking for their rationale, because we try and stay away from them but it is eventually going to cause an issue.

Thanks for the reply.
