Are you starting from Cataract Creek? How long& difficult that drive will be?
Just asking because I have to take a wife with me, and she isn't an experienced rider, unlike me :)

I was going to start from etherington parking lot. I would say it is for advanced riders. I was seeing 5-10 cms of snow on wednesday but that has changed unfortunately. Hopefully the weather can drop something this week.

No do not take wife there with you. there is creek crossings and shale hills with barely enough for a sled to get around. And that was before the flood.
So if you love your wife leave her at home. Just saying

I purchased a sled last Saturday, so I'm a rookie rider. The wife wants to come as well. Does Cataract Creek have trails for the beginner. I'm not looking to go 100 mph or anything, just want to ride and enjoy the scenery. It is a 2up sled. Before I head out there, just looking for advice from guys that have been out there. Thanks.

I would like to tag along and learn the ropes but don't want to hold anyone up either. Let me know please.

I believe I'm heading out this weekend to Cataract. Doubt I'm going over the pass though, just the trails.

Quad_hopper, the trails are fairly tame -nothing extreme. Lots of good riding and no, you won't be going 100 MPH!!

Most likely around 9-10 am. PM me if your interested in riding together. There was a ramp, but Kaz Dog mentioned it was burnt???? I am not sure, I have a deck, so don't need one.

I was out there for my first time last weekend and could not figure out what way to go at the fording pass sign, there wasn't much snow so didn't feel like tracking around
any help would be great thanks

Fording trailhead is off the Baril Loop trail. I'm sure a few of the trail signs in that area have it scratched in on them. If you don't know where to go from theFording trailhead I wouldn't go any further........if you do make sure you take enough stuff to spend the night

Fording is not recommended unless you go with riders who know their way. Travel in groups. we don't want any lost riders out there

Does the trail over have enough snow on it yet or still a rock garden?

I've only been over once but from what I understand it is always a rock garden at the spit they call the moon.

Some well placed snow fences would sure help keep the snow over that rocky area.....

I will get the snow fence if you and others volunteer to help put it up and take it down at the end of the official season (April 30).
