Because it wasn,t a Ford motor LOL. Stay away from the V 10,s ZERO power and Zero fuel mileage. We have some at work the 5.4,s have almost as much power!!
I am NOT a Furd man...but the new style (3 valve per cyl) V10 in the motorhouse with the 5 speed isn't too bad. I've had a 7.4 Workhorse and a 8.1 Workhorse in past rigs and the V10 is on par with the 8.1 for sure...mileage, power about the same and the new rig is 3000 lbs or more heavier. I get about 9mpg (US) which is better than my truck used to get towing a holiday trailer (gasser).

I work of those DORFS all the time, wouldnt recommend any of POS trucks unless its a carberated 300 six ..
OR,buy New, and get rid of it before warrenty is up.Ford cant get enough mechanics across Canada to fix em, they have rewards of $20,000 cash incentive paid to sign on to Ford Dealer.if you last 6 months??
Cliffs towing ran 7.3s Non Turbos , dam near a million kms before scrapping em.
no power, but last forever and get 20 mpg in a 1 ton.I know, I bought 2 of those worn out tow trucks from Cliffs over the years, then like a dummy bought a 2000 Dodge diesal from them too, couldnt lift more than a 1/2 ton without wandering all over the road, But Cummins and a Automatic were great,I sold it with 756,000 on it, all original.
