Hey guys looking at installing a box plug for my trailer, can I just run a male plug into the female on my truck near the bumper than just plug the 5th wheel onto the other end in my truck box, it's a 2011 Ford F-250 and the less wiring for me the better

so you have a 7 way plug already on the truck and you want to plug a 5th wheel trailer to the truck where would be the problem most trailer drop cords are long enough to reach to the bumper plug we rent 5th wheel trailers and never had a problem if you find the cord to short go to a trailer place and buy a 6 foot extension or just make one up with the cord and 2 ends

you can buy an adapter cord for fifth wheel plug installation
you unplug the trailer plug in the bumper from behind and plug it in to the adapter and then put it back in the bumper
and run the new cord up to the front driver side of the box or where ever you want it to be
both the bumper and box plugs work at the same time

Your truck is likely prewired for this. Ford sells a harness to plug in and put a 7 way in your box. I have always done this so the wires don’t scratch the endgate

Yes IMO you are better off installing a second plug in the box on the driver side near the back. Some truck have it pre wired some don't.

Call ford and tell them what you want to do all you need is plug in harnesses.

I will measure mine later if you want but I think it will be obvious once you get it home if not I think it is in the instructions.
