Ford diesel will not run!?

Got a 2005 6.0 Ford F-350 went to fire it up and it ran for 10-15 mins than it died it'll crank and catch run for a tiny bit than that's it and now it won't even run just will crank over, any ideas!?!

HPOP - high pressure oil pump? Any issues prior...like longer cranks to start? I believe that the 6.0 needs a minimum of 5-600 psi at the injectors to start...if it can't build that, it won't start. Can be a number of things that can cause that... o-rings, STC fitting, stand pipes...pretty well need a gauge to narrow it down.

Thanks guys I'm gonna lean towards a gelling issue the truck hasn't been ran since summer last than my friend parked it, went to run it today and than this problem occurred, he dumped some stuff in it and it's still a no go

Better hope it's not oil pump as it is a bbbbbtch to change it, yes as other guys said with that 6.0 it can be many things. Good luck.

Check ICP pig tail wires, unplug and plug back in. Mine did it few years ago and it was only a bad connection, i guess its common. good luck.

If you have a good scanner, you can see what is happening with the injection oil pressure etc... You can read all the numbers that are required for the engine to fire... About the only and best way to diagnose these 6.0l pstd "no start" conditions. My old '04 had similar happen to this, and had to put the hpop(high pressure oil pump) and icp(injection control pressure) sensor and ipr(injection pressure regulator) solenoid into it... But it could be a hundred different possibilities....

Diesel system gelled up? Easy to pull fuel filter on them?

You have a fuel filter on top of the engine, turn on your key to see if the fuel overflows?
This will eliminate the fuel pump
Gelling could happen if it does have summer fuel in it?
The other thing it could be, is the FICM.
My 05 had the same issue, I changed it out and it worked great after that.

When it comes to your 6leaker you could be throwing parts at it all day and not get it fixed. Read some of the suggestions haha holy fawk id be broke real quick. Trust me bud i feel your pain, i dumped **** loads into my stupidduty years ago too, but when shes running good its the best! Find a friend or someone that has a 6.0 and try swapping parts first..HPOP isn't a easy fix but start with the FICM ICP IPR small stuff like that...a SCT X4 tunner can be your best friend to and worth the coin. If your still stuck and your in the edm area, then give Gary at Lomax Diesel a call...Dude is great and fair priced. Keep us posted as i like to know what the hell your issue was. If you do get it fixed and its not studded....PM me i have a left over box of APR head studs id sell ya cheap...good luck.

hmmm, headaches and time are cheap...any diesel tech will cost you big mula. Id take a headache and have cash in pocket and exhaust all my options before i dumped it off and said have a look....just my 2cents

at least with a cheap code reader, he'll have an idea where to start... Otherwise, waste of time and money throwing parts at anything

Man this thread brings back alota painful memories of my Ford woes,I went through everything mentioned x10, by the time I finally sold them I was pretty much a tech,as mentioned if there is no physical obvious problems you should scan it.

Check the easy thing first.. OIL... if its low on oil then it will starve the pump and then no fuel. I found out the hard way on my 7.3 bad injector O ring and was eating oil on me and died on the road. Pulled dipstick and it was just showing.

I am still managing to keep my 04 6.0L running. Just had to resolder the FICM for the second time last month. DieselTechRon youtube vids are well worth watching. FICM voltage is easy to check. You pretty need a good code reader to work on them. I have the autoenginuity one.
