Flames vs Oilers vs Canucks Thread

Its a nice accomplishment, but honestly can't wait for the north division to get a dose of reality playing more than 2 good teams 8 times a year or whatever it is.
Alot of good Canadian players in the league not only Canadian teams and they don't get the same "hype"

Yes you are right however as a staunch Flames fan I can even admit that the best player in the world right now is not an American, not a Russian or a Swede but Connor McDavid. He has a gear on everyone and can think and operate at a speed where others fail. I am on the edge of my seat everytime he gets the puck waiting for the next TSN highlight of the night to happen.

Agree he is the best player in the world, no doubt. My thinking is he wouldn't have got 100 points in 53 games playing all 30 other teams, same with Mathews 40 goals, the division created inflated stats which people are comparing to normal format seasons which is getting annoying, but now playoff time so a nice reset

will you be cheering for the oilers for the next two games, so Calgary has hopes of a playoff spot? ? Not only does cow town have to win win but Edm to beat MTL back to back....good luck lol

In all fairness though nobody likes Matthew but would like him if he was on their team. Marchand is another talented player that is grating but worth his weight on any team.

i seriously doubt i would ever cheer for your turtle, even if he played for the oilers..... Brady i would cheer for... A lot more class And I'm sure I'm not the only Oilers fan that feels this way

Oh you would. You just don't think you would. I remember back in the heyday when the Flames and Oilers had their great rivalry in the Battle of Alberta. Both teams were very good. Flames fans would boo Gretzky relentlessly in the Saddledome. Every time Gretz complained about a call the fans would start chanting ...whiner.....whiner.....whiiiiiner. Then for reasons that still confuse me Pocklington traded Gretzky to the Kings. The first game LA was in the dome when they announced the starting lineup for the Kings and said Gretzky's name the Dome stood and gave him a standing ovation. I will never forget that. It wasn't about Gretzky who stuck a knife in the Flames back numerous times, it was about the rivalry between Edmonton and Calgary. If Matthew was doing to the Flames what he does to the Oilers you would be his biggest fan. Lol
