Fish cops, again.

Would seem the days of taking a ride on the river having a beer and not worrying about whether your 20 year old ditch banger has insurance and registration are coming to an end.

Saturday they were patrolling the blindman river. Poorly identifiable unless you really saw their outfits, I passed by on our sxs my son said “dad thats the cops”... stopped they drove up to me I got bitched out 2 feet from my face for going too fast had to show documents and looked for booze. I was compliant and when I asked where’s your face mask they really got pissy, and when I asked if there’s a speed limit on the river in winter I got it again. Same as last summer got the same treatment river boating. Cue the Karen’s I’m sure but really our freedoms are getting thinner.

One time me and some buddies crossed a creek and some unmarked sleds came up and asked us how the heck we got over it. So thinking they were sledders, we told them. Sat there and finished our snacks and they came up from behind us and handed out tickets lol sneaky pricks. Can't even be mad.....you got us

I heard they were around St. Paul last week patrolling the trail south to river checking insurance and drinking, the park rangers guys were also up at Spencer Lake Saturday giving out tickets for using the creek trail and asking for the insurance

Usually they’re pretty decent guys to deal with. But now that they joined forces with the sheriffs maybe they got a chip on there shoulder like the sheriffs do.

Fish and wildlife were out checking sleds on wabamun as well on the weekend. I rode my sled down to my friends rink to skate with the gf and they came by to talk to us. didnt hassle us to much since we were skating but told me I needed to mount my plate on my tunnel or snowflap.

We ran into both fish cop and RCMP together on sleds last year at atlas they followed us for 20 km to track us down. We were in the middle of nowhere in a check stop ! We were all good but sure felt strange getting pulled over on a logging road.

The best part of getting stopped is being fully compliant with cops that think they will find something and leave empty handed. I've met a few like that.

Especially when they think they are being sneaky. A few years back a group of us were riding northwest of Grande Cache, we stopped at a creek crossing on the Copton road to cook some smokies. Fish cop popped out of the bush behind us and went through everyone's paperwork all stiff like he had busted some crime ring. After the smoke cleared and he relaxed a bit, he told us it was rare to come across a group that size without being able to write a ticket for something.

That’s the problem to me, they’re looking for any reason (excuse) to write a ticket. It’s not about protecting the population or keeping anyone safe.

I register, insure, keep my documents on me and am polite to them, it’s just really frustrating when it’s a blatant cash grab.

Your doing it all wrong don't you know. Go to the drug store which is open because it's essential, buy some go home and get stoned, don't contribute anything to society, and make your kid stare at an I phone, in turn he will grow up to do the same. You will NOT be questioned or harassed. That's today's standard.

I’m a grown ass man. Any machine I ride don’t leave the house without 2 beers in the cooler and 1 joint in the pocket. Many days when I’m ripping around the trails by my cabin I don’t even stop to have a beer. But I always have one there in case I choose to do so. I could care less about the laws. I am able to make the right choices for myself regardless of tickets That said nothing pisses me off more than riding and seeing a group of drunk people riding the trails. That I disagree with

Saw many $2000 sleds on the river Saturday I’m sure most uninsured no registration. Saw no one out of control. Government missing its pound of flesh on registration and insurance companies who seem to have a free pass to clobber consumers right now missing out on $200-$300 a year. Not unlike being told we are locked in our house or detained for 3 days at the hotel for $2000, this is the new norm in our socialist experience. Government not willing to allow people to exercise common sense pushes people further to test it.

We had 3 CO’s drive out 2 days in a row in 3 trucks to check in a caribou area that we manage. No infractions and could clearly see no one had been up the trail in weeks since we had to close our one zone but still went up into the zone even though we are not allowed. Those guys had the best pow in BC on the family day weekend.
