A sizeable portion southwest of GP has been evacuated too from a fire on the north bank of the Wapiti River. The wind has been crazy all day fanning the flames. We need rain, there's no way in hell the firefighters can put these out on their own.

Just to the south of us there’s several subdivisions that have been evacuated. Not very far from my place (roughly 10k). Hopefully the wind calms down and they can get it under control.

The one by Leduc they suspect a vehicle mirror reflecting the sun started it in the farmers yard.

i am along ways from you guys in berta but sparks and hot embers will fly a long ways in the air / wind and land miles away from active fires
we had pieces of paper synged from phone books land in oyama that were still fresh come all the way from okanagan mountain fire when it was happening
