This could be a another bad fire season.
And yet they just couldn't wait down here last week. Lit 2 prescribed burns and choked out everyone in Cranbrook with smoke for 4 days. Someone needs their head examined at the Ministry of Forests.

Yah a set of safety chains to long will start fires to!
We had that happen up here 15 years ago. A guy didn’t tie up the safety chains on the trailer his was pulling out of a small hamlet. 2 km out of town, 8 fires in the ditch and one was in thick brush and going fast. Luckily he had his radio to call it in (fire guys can put two and two together on that one). It turned out to be a mutual aid with the town and the hamlet and luckily, SRD choppers were staged at our airport.
My officer told me to go down this dirt road so We can stage to start attacking the fire. I knew it was a dead end but I wasn’t going to argue but I did say I don’t think that’s a good idea. We set up, I start pumping water and the fire switched direction. I had never felt that much heat outside a structure fire before as the flames were licking above our heads. Load the crew, kick the pump out and high tailed in reverse quickly. Didn't think the old girl could go that fast backwards lol. Looked at the officer and said, yep, wasn’t a good idea. I wont get into the heated discussion after that while backing up.

I was washing the walls in the garage last night and the amount of Emergency broadcasts over the radio in a short time was pretty scary. Hope everyone stays safe out there. I feel for you.

Can anyone confirm if that map is correct? It looks like 16 east is closed from 43.
Coworker are wondering if they can take 43 to head home to the city. Or will they have to take 37.

I'm going out at lunch (someone forgot to register his vehicles) I'll go past that way and see what's up.

Google Maps shows closed at Magnolia Bridge, but 511 says closed at 43...... and traffic shows green all the way through to Magnolia bridge on Google.......
