You will see a giant sign that says active logging must use radios, the morons that went up caused a truck to go in the ditch and pissed off the loging company plus made us a hour late to get up to the hill not a big deal but a piss off when we came prepared and ready to go. Also yes i agree with the statement for trying to keep areas open but the way the two clubs went about things and how they treated certain people i have zero time for and zero tollerance for it. Therefore i do not support the club that has anything to do with the elkvalley club.

The Elk Valley Snowmobile Club is no more. It is all under the control of the Fernie Snowmobile Association (all the Special Use Permits from the government and permission is granted from the logging company to operate on their private land). From what I have heard the retard stirring the pot thinking he still has an axe to grind was the President of the Elk Valley Snowmobile Club.

The only way to get the "snowmobiling on a plowed logging road" under control is from someone in authority to get out from behind their desk and write some tickets. I don't know about the law regarding "radio controlled" roads as to whether or not it is actually illegal to use them without a radio. The one thing I do know is that if there is enough abuse by "joe citizen" and the abuse is on the logging company's private land, the logging company has the right to put up a gate and lock out all the "joe citizens".

It has been stuck city for the last 4 days. It is a lot of fun watching the flatlanders work/play with the short tracks. Spent more time with the shovel in my hands than the throttle. The snow is still skinny but in the trees it is awesome and the wind pillows are fun. I have never seen stumps sticking out 5' high on the fire road across from the Rolling Hills cabin.

I don't know the situation today but I have heard they are logging and the road from the yellow gates is plowed. There are people coming in from the pipeline saying it is pretty rough. Riding in a warm truck listening to tunes isn't that bad of a choice.

I really don't like the idea of the law being out there anymore then they are. Perhaps a friendly reminder by the fella guiding traffic in the morning?? Or a flyer put up in the cabin, telling people to avid that part of the trail until February maybe??

I still prefer face to face with people while they're doing it. Just like rubbing the dogs nose in the ****...

Like the dip**** kids who tossed their empties in the parking lot today and cracked jokes about it before blasting off. Had one of the older guys in their group not walked over and picked up the cans I would have had something to say to them.

Rode the past two days, managed to find deep snow in the trees near the new cabin yesterday and real good snow in a rather obvious and easy to get to spot today. Yesterday it was just the two of us and today we hooked up with a couple fellas from Ponoka/St. Albert. Sure appreciated having a couple other guys to help with the stucks. Today sure was brisk though.

On Friday we were following a group of trucks on Morrissey road when the passenger of the truck in front of us threw a large water bottle out the window. We went up the Lodgepole road and they continued up Morrissey so I never got the opportunity to have a chat.

They had two sleds on a jacked up two place open trailer. It is very identifiable...it had the cheesiest axle setup I've ever seen...the wheels looked to be about four feet apart and the axle didn't look like it could carry the dump I made this morning. BC plates...if you know them, please put some shame on them. Wish I had taken a picture of the trailer.

I will post a story of our first trip to the nutch on Sunday, thought we were gonna spend the night. We got stuck in one area at 1pm and got to trucks at after 10 pm, we didn't think we would get out and had search and rescue would need to come out, we even talked about it, hope some one does not follow our tracks there as they may not be as lucky as us. If I can talk to someone that knows that area maybe they or someone can ribbon it off, it's that bad 10 hrs to get out of that spot and we were frozen to death. Thanks to the guys who built that cabin as we definitely needed to use and make a fire and warm up. Thanks

Glad you made it out Darren. There are a few places in the Coal Creek/Rolling Hills/Notch that a guy can get into trouble real quick. If one gets those big sleds stuck in a precarious place it can be a lot of work.

Not sure but if you look at Google earth there is an old trail that I believe is used in the summer? Sure would not want to try it in the winter! Haha
