Ya pretty much, in the trees there was some ok riding but mostly all crusted over.

Gotta get up over 5000’ down in Fernie till next reload. Sodas McDerrmit Lil Sand. Rain got it all. Fording yesterday no rain at Fording. Good conditions at 5000’.

Keyboards often do think the same. All the areas mentioned had POW. All 3 in Fernie are Alpine. All above 5000’. The climb up Sodas would have been safer down at waterfall with hero down low. POW all day backside of sisters. Harvey an 29 mile might have been alright up high. Sometimes you actually have to go look for it an work for it.

Interesting. if you want actual hands on information look at the Avalanche reports that their crew post after every ride. They get into lots of alpine area's and will be sledding and skiing in those area's. They are detailed with lots of pictures to back up what they find. And yes the snow pack changes lots and they will mention that.

Couldn’t find any crusted snow at Fording no rain here. Vale got no rain. Fernie Sic Rev Golden got drenched. Fording no rain. Enjoy the hero snow lolLike so.... This crust is not elevation based it's location based.

Pfffft. I found over a foot of fresh everywhere on the bike haha.
Still a nasty crust under it that sent me tumbling a few times though. And definitely climbed into some tiiiiiight tree areas that I would never be able to with any considerable amount of snow.
All in all, better than being at work on a Monday Tuesday. Can't really complain.

Made a day trip on Saturday.
Roads were pretty crappy the whole way but especially after Frank Slide.
Took advantage of the newly opened Coal Creek, people were all (amazingly) parked like sane drivers and the trail was top notch. (great job FSA!)
Hard crust is prevalent up top however there was about a 1-1.5' of fresh with some deeper wind loaded areas so we rode bumper deep all day and had a blast. The sun even came out!

Was out fri-sun. Snow is great, after the weekend you might have to look for the snow a little harder. We didn’t cross with any other riders but the staging areas were looking busy. I heard the trails were smooth if you use the trails.
