Is anyone privy to the planned winter status of the Forest Service Roads in the Fernie area? Are there plans for plowing and logging on Coal Creek, Morrissey or Lodgepole this winter?

Rumor has it (I haven't been to a meeting yet and that in itself is another issue. Friday night meetings????) Marten Ridge using Coal Creek. I am quite sure that the new road they built last year to the east of the Rolling Hills cabin (over by the Chevron sign) going into the north end of the BlueBerry is going to get heavy use this year. So Coal Creek will be just like last year unless we get a pee-pot load of snow and it is too expensive for them to keep the roads open.

Does this mean no access into rolling hills? Do you have to go in through morresey?

If you do a little exploring you'll find more ways than just the pipeline to get to Rolling Hills from Corbin.

Yea, we should prob do that this year.

Last year we just did Morrissey everytime.

The year before was our first season so exploring Mountain terrain was a little intimidating. Lol

I heard a rumor that the new cabin burnt down. Is it true?

The new cabin in LodgePole. That is about 25 km south of the Morrissey staging area and was put up by the Fernie Trails Alliance. It was a BC Recreation Site for everyone to use.

Those are tethers. They park them at the top of a steep slope and have a winch system hooked up to a buncher, forwarder or hoe for assisted traction.

Quick rip out the rolling hills cabin and the wranglers cabin. Roughly 60 cm of snow. One more good dump and it should be good to go. Make sure you have a radio if you are heading up coal creek. They are logging up the leech/Martin area.

Wish I hadn't had to spend my day chipping ice and shovelling snow off my driveway. I'd like to have gone for a rip.
