So the pressure is on to take the kids to a really cool vacation spot. As I have really only ever been to adult only vacation spots just wondering if anyone has experience with the family side of resorts or family oriented resort.

Places on the list so far:
- Caribbean cruise/Disney cruise
- Atlantis water slides in the Bahamas
- Some place in Hawaii

Just returned from a 2 week stay on the big island Hawaii (Kona) with the wife and 3 kids. Everyone had an amazing time and not one of us was ready to come back. Kids aged 6-10-16 and if you know anything about 16 year old girls, you know they are hard to please so her enjoying herself was a HUGE deal.

Kids are 7-7-10.

I kinda want to hold off on the going to Disney land for a few years but will consider the cruise

Hawaii is easy and a good age for them. Maui is easy, rent car, rent condo, I’ve done it many times

We have been to a few places and I'm a fan of the all inclusive all one price never had to worry about finding somewhere to eat or where to drive to etc etc. We frequent Mexico in the Mayan Riviera lots for kids to do pool, beach and lots of theme parks to go to and they are all inclusive also food/drinks/booze

We have been to a few places and I'm a fan of the all inclusive all one price never had to worry about finding somewhere to eat or where to drive to etc etc. We frequent Mexico in the Mayan Riviera lots for kids to do pool, beach and lots of theme parks to go to and they are all inclusive also food/drinks/booze

Hate to say it...how about home? So many people love bc, we live in a great part of the world. That said, any where warm or depending on your likes?
hard to keep kids happy because I think we spoil them lol. Sounds like for there ages Disney, Hawaii, or glamas and rent a sand rail. Now that’s family fun!

My wife and daughters are off to Maui in 2 weeks. They do a girls trip with my mother in law every other year and I go with every other other year. Maui is awesome for pretty much any age. Lots to do to entertain all types. IDE take over Disney anytime. Plus if you can sneak away from them for a day and rent a bike, ride to Hana. Beautiful road, and an awesome little tiki bar at the end of the pavement. If you end up on a Disney cruise post how it is, it’s on my wife’s list of “things we should do” and my list of “things I can’t see being fun”

We hit that up this fall. And yes xel ha is great.

As for the stay home because BC is great thing I couldn't agree more. We do a chit load of camping and no matter what direction we travel in it is beautiful. But we promised them a holiday with a warm swimming beach.

Mexico is easily done and have been many times although I do always find something new.

My vote is for Hawaii but not sure the mrs is sold in that

What about Vancouver Island and the Sunshine coast.
IMO, way better then any of those other places, nicer and can be one hell of a great family vacation.

I agree 100% and never do it other way. I have been to Maui and pan in Ass to go find places to eat as kids don't want to stop swimming or kids clubs etc, X carat bought out now but still a park. South of playa del Carmen lots of kids fun parks and resorts. Good luck and cruise I think would be great. I find that if kids of all ages are busy and things to do will all have fun, I also do a Rd trip with mine now 14/17 and love it. But when younger they don't understand the history as schools out lol

I don't know about every body else but my best child hood vacation memories were not going to fancy places. As a child my parent did that, go to Mexico, Disneyland and a couple other places. None had an impact on me more then just plainly going camping. As boring as it sounds my best vacation memories as a child were formed on simple camping trip's.
Ever consider a canoe trip like the Bawron lakes. I did that with my kid's and today as adults they still talk about it, incredible family bonding time as there is no distraction, just nature at its best and extremely educational that has real impact on young minds.

I was going to say the same. Not cheap! We went there a few years back and I think it was almost double than Mexico resorts. But it was a cool place!

Totally agree. However we camp 30-50days every summer and live 26km into the bush. My youngest boy has some physical challenges so the long canoe trip would come as a extra bit of strategy. Not much more just a couple extra considerations. I would totally think island ad well but just isn't the same since have sold the boat. Also my dad and his wife own a camping resort in qualicum so we get our share of VA lol.

Looks like I maybe crossing Atlantis off the list.

Here's a life hack for adult vacations, not sure how it would be with the family.
Stay at the Comfort Inn across the street from the gates at Atlantis. Decent enough place for about $80/night and you get 2 free park passes per room per day. It is actually cheaper to rent a room and not even use it then it is to pay the day rate at the park for 2 adults.
