Factory Truck tires are JUNK

If you buy a new truck take it straight to the tire shop and trade the factory tires off on something decent. Bought a new 2011 Ford and got 40 000km out of the factory tires and there wore out with one even separting. Cant the vehicle builders put on decent rubber when were paying 60k for a new truck. This just sends me off the deep end. :mad:

Good year Wrangler SRA Tires but had a New Chevy back in 2005 and they were Bridgestone Tires and they were the same. Factory truck tires of all brands suck IMO

I still got the originals on my 2010 Superduty and have 65000 kms on it now? And I may have left a couple thousand clicks of them in the Boulder parking lot the first weekend in March. Lol.

I was once told that the vehicle manufacturers specify a softer version of a tire so that the vehicle rides smoother during test drives and initial ownership. "Softer" likely also equates to "cheaper".

What kind of driving do you do? I can only get 40k on a set of bfg all terrains, junk also imo. I have found stock tires hard and last a while.

One thing about it is you can buy them cheap as take offs if you can live with performance they offer. Most times $100 per corner. If you can get 40000 kms out of them that is cheap driving.
Like you say thou they are not that great. Some put on Michelin X tires and they last well and are a great highway tire.

try lightining up on the right foot iv never got less than 80,000 on factory tires

Last truck was an 09 avalanche that came with Bridgestone Duelers, they were great tires and lasted about 60k, 12 F150 came with Pirellis Scorpions and have 50K on these tires and are still in not too bad of shape.. Can't complain..
On all my field trucks i swap the tires straight away to get something more aggressive, typically Good Year Duratracs, noisy, don't ride as nice, 2G and will only get 60K out of them..

Guess its what you take on it. Bought a set of after factory good year ats. 22000 km. toast. Set of durvais on my 09 diesel ... 65000 km. just changed them. All depends on what you travel on.

The good year wrangler at that were on my 09 superduty were a decent tire had 84000 km on them before they were worn out
the new wranglers that Are on the 2012 and newer superduty trucks are useless on anything other than hot dry pavement

Mud and Snow tires are always softer as they also have to grip in cold weather, true winter tires are softer yet and are only to be used during colder weather, I bought Nokians when I first bought my 3/4 ton, I have 34,000 and I will most likely need to replace before winter hits again. with the weight I carry and pull doesn't surprise me. The harder tires may last longer but their traction sucks during the colder weather. It is what it is.

Yup stock tires r a joke . I run toyo s in the summer and duratrac s in the winter im not sold on the duratrac tho they r the ****s in ice

Most half ton trucks come stock with 4 ply tires. Not sure where the surprise is here

Looking for opinions on the Cooper tires DISCOVERER S/T MAXX? http://us.coopertire.com/tires/discoverer-s-t-maxx.aspx

Has anyone ran them on a 3/4 ton? what can be expected for year round traction and mileage?
I have been running these on my duramax for the last 4 years minus 1 winter. Have put about 70k kms on them and still have 30-35% tread, with towing trailer in summers. Rotated 10k kms or so and tread has never wore funny. Good tires
