Hey gentlemen this is my first post onto this website/forums.
I have noticed that on almost every forum online that no one has really given there own impression on this "new" Tundra Extreme, so i am going to take this time and talk about it for a little while to answere any questions i have seen before and what i have learned about my own.
I have been sledding in the north part of ontario sence i have been young, i have gone threw a few sleds such as a few mxz's a mach 800, a summit 600 and a couple junker sleds here and there. on average we have 5 feet of snow in thick bush and on treelines on the edge of lakes and the temp is normal at -30. We have lots of untouched areas , pits, rivers, open water, just a rough place to take a machine all in all.
I purchased my tundra extreme last x-mas after looking into many sleds, i was looking for something i could play in deep snow with, go ice fishing with, trail ride, and keep up to all my buddies with m6's and nytros etc... I was a little unsure when i purchased this sled thinking i would a laughed at my all my friends who ride more sport oriented machines, well let me tell you after one season i am now laughing at all of them.....
First off i will start with the ergo's of this machine. As everyone may know already this sled is infact very slim and tippy and if not experianced enough with it can be unpredicatble, once you understand and ride a few miles you wont even notice this. I run trails at 50 mph with no issues. yes maybe a bit more rough than a sled with A-arms but it still is failry comfterable. The track is 154 long which can make it harder to manuever through thicker terrain but i have yet to have any issue's with reversing in deep and turns, also the articulating susp is a beauty in my eyes, i can adjust for deep snow or trail riding. perfect set up !! The runnins boards are very easy to keep clean, the bar set up is perfect for standing up, the sport seat is killer ! and i have a 2 up that can be removed with just a button, the rear rack holds all my fishing gear and my ice auger, the gauges are clear and eay to read, and all buttons are easy to use with gloves. To me i would not change a thing to make it more easy to ride.
So anyone have any issues paying for the 600 over a 550f ? well i can honestly say it is 100% worth the money. I have rode both engines and that 550f is garbage compared to the 600.... This 600 runs perfect smooth power and loads of it for when you need it. This thing barely drinks oil or gas, infact i had 235 miles on one tank ! talk about being able to go into remote places I have had aboslutely no issues with having to start this machine in extreme cold (-45) never have had an overheat issue in late march (+5) and never once have worried about reliability. also the clutching on this thing ? i spot on i would say about as good as yamaha's clutches. This engine / set up still moves this machine with ease and i have had it up at around 90 mph on the lake. not as fast as an mxz but they wont be all that far ahead and Hey! your still riding a tundra right lol?
I have taken my machine into some really techincal and for some " retarded " places that are dangerous.... for example open water hahah. This thing floats like no other and this is only with the skinny skies, you can get the wide skins for them and those will be on my sled this year for even better floatation. I have tried my absolute hardest to get this machine stuck in many different situations and yet this thing will not stop, just point and go. I have stopped in 2 feet of slush were other people are stuck , climbed up pits with snowdrifts overhanging, i tried ditches, and super deep powder in trees, still never got stuck. On trails it is decent maybe not a mxz or gsx but not the worst i have tried and like i said earlier once you have rode this machine you will be used to it and wont feel "tippy". For those of you who may disagree with my statement about how good this thing off trails take a look at the last couple years of Caines Quest which is held in newfondland labrador and what you will see may surprise you. Out of the top 10 teams the only 600 machine group to compete aginst 800's and 1000 4 strokes are 600 tundra's. I think this is a very good source seeing that this course takes you over 2500km of "back country"
My overall opinion about this sled ? its a god of all machines! you may not be the fastest, or the best looking on the trails but when ch!t hits the fan you know 100% that this machine will get you out of it and in style haha while watching all your friends on xtx's and such crying because they are too heavy or hard to turn blah blah blah .
Thanks for your time reading ! if you have any questions or want to see some video's or pictures of what i have been through or this sled playing hard just message me id be happy to back my statements up
