extra air holes in air box to fix bog???

I have an 08 M1000 sno pro 153 and have done some clutch work and a couple other minor things to it include the big air kit. I still seem to have that mystery bog that lots of guys were talking about last year. I took it out a few weekend ago and it only bogged in the really deep heavy snow... another guy said he drilled out 2 extra holes in the air box and put frog skins over them. He hasn't had a bog since...... Is he on crack or should I try this???

Good chance your exhaust is plugging off in the deep snow. May be in your clutching also.

Some people add another piece of aluminum to the existing exhaust shield or switch to a tunnel dump exhaust. As far as adding holes to the airbox, there is no real downside that i know of. It will eliminate the chance that your starving for air in the really deep snow but allows a little more warm air into the intake.

He may be on crack but the extra holes in the airbox definetly help in the deep stuff. Mine was a real nucense ... especially because it would bog so bad the sled would almost quit and lead to a stuck situation. No better way to piss a guy off when you can`t ride and there is 3ft of fresh. The setup shown above looks nice but I just put a couple 2 or 3 inch round frogskins where those vents are if you are looking for option. It works very well.

My 08 had the 09 upgrade. It added a couple of extra holes in the stock air box. Was wondering how it would be in deep stuff. Had it in 2-3 feet of powder over the hollidays. Blowing over my head in windblown areas. No issues, run perfect the whole time. Stock air box and exhaust exit.

My sled did the same thing. Ive got a 2011 m8 153 and when i get into deep powder and carve the snow gets built up beside the windsheild and plugs off those air vents. So i did the same as the first guy , I took out my air box and drilled some holes and then put frog skins over top and this definatly solved the problem. So he isnt on crack. It helps. NO MORE BOG in deep snow

I was just thinking about adding some holes after I experienced some bogging in deep, heavy powder this past weekend - pretty sure it's not getting enough air when the snow builds up under those stupidly placed low intake vents.

You can buy frog skin stick ons and i think they are 2'' diameter and work very good .. No more bog

SLP make round vents that you just use a hole saw and then pop them in. They are called flow rights. In put one in belt pan right in front of the primary clutch it keeps the clutch way cooler!

here's another vent u can do just take your air box out and drill to hole saw holes under your intake and drill your bottom intake out also..

I opened up my stock box(2007 M1000) with frog skinz, have a speedwerx Y and pipe with a MBRP can. Had my control box adding a bit more fuel 5500 and up. Had a meltdown on my Mag piston last weekend. I'm of the opinion if you are going open up your air box, with additional exhaust modifications and no fuel controller, you will melt down when the box is breathing fully. I've seen similar comments re modifications to the stock air box/filter setup. It seems to allow a lot more air than modifying the exhaust.

I did the air box mod, and I still find that in deep powder there is a bit of a bog, not as bad as stock but still shows up none the less. i like the idea of adding to the exhaust shield.
