Anyone care to share good and bad experiences with grip and rip braces? Thinking of getting them for my XM... I'd like to save myself some money in the long run. Heard mixed reviews... Heard it can transfer damage from the S-module to the E-module and end up costing more... Real life stories? Thanks!

I thought they were a great idea and I see what they are doing with the braces. Hit a ravine with my sled and bent the S module and E module. The A-arms were straight and I'm still using them today. I think it all depends on the impact the frame sees, but in my instance the braces wrecked the E module.

I have a set on mine ...

I kissed a rock at 15 km/hr on the trail (I did go over the bars because the sled stopped immediately) .. bent S module, straight A arms.. haven't dug in there to check out my E, but the impact was fairly slow so I'm hoping it didn't get bent outta shape. Still riding the sled .. it's just a little tweaked ;)

I put them on mine with the understanding they are supposed to strengthen the S module and make it stronger than the A arms makin so they break first. Still yet to be determined but the brackets do add strength just not sure were yet lol.

I took some light hits last year with the braces on. No damage. This year took a big hit on a ditch troll and bent an a arm. Everything looked fine. Perfect in fact. I replaced the arm. Now my ski is back 1.5". I cant see whats bent. Would have been much worse im sure without. The A Arm was really bad.

I have them on mine, hit a rock on the one a arm early season only going 10k or so, seemed pretty minor. Bent a lower a arm, replaced it and ski is still 2" back. Thinking they are a waste of money, I am spending my money on alt impact a arms next time. Think it is more the type of hit you take that determines is you are doing module damage or not. The ones that stay straight probably would have been fine without the bracing, I am no longer a believer. Imo

I'd rather bust an arm than bend stuff. Huge PIA and cost to fix modules. Next sled I'm drilling or cutting the backside of the A-arms so they break off.

My thoughts aswell. We drill 4 small holes on the backside of lower a arm to weaken them. The more you brace the further back your damage will transfer.

Don't use a sawzall use a drill bit. A small cut will act like a crack and will keep going and eventually break right off with the fatigue the a arms see. But a drilled hole won't crack.
