Everything that's been stolen from us - could this be the easy solution?

Could this be easy & cheap solution? Looked at a couple ideas including one from Garmin, but this looks really easy to hide and they're listed as only $19.00 each with discount for buying more.

Think I'll be ordering a few and experimenting with hiding them in the sled, in my trailer, etc.

Very interesting. Seems like limited returns until it is widely adopted though. Also I don't think that everyone with the Tile app will be travelling around with it running all the time draining their battery.

Unfortunately, this is a Bluetooth device so it can only locate items within a relatively small radius (approx. 100' max).

I just found out today that our yard has completed a test with MicroDotDNA, they are so far very happy with the results, there are some differences, micro dot only works if you scan for the dot. In thevideo for Tile, other users could be stumble across the signal and it notifiesyou were the lost item is....one down side to the tile would be easier for thiefs to see it and discard it...
Part of the strategywith micro dot is their deterrent strategy, ie decals and signs, that aloneseems to be working as we have a 22% reduction in missing tools on the test jobsites

I like the idea of hiding the Tile and catching the thief.....I think in the long run as this tech catchs on, it will equal less theft, at least from the less sofiscated thiefs.....

I ordered some. who knows, maybe there will be some future benefits from getting in on the ground floor. they only last one year is the downside, but you get newer and better ones with every update.

Unfortunately, this is a Bluetooth device so it can only locate items within a relatively small radius (approx. 100' max).

I don't know much about it yet, but I can see great things for something like this. Think bigger picture. It wouldn't take much to set up a "receiver" on the side of the highway. Imagine this: Sled is stolen in revy or sicamous. Receiver is set up on the side of the road at main intersection in town or along the highway on either side. As soon as your property passed by it, it would notify you where, at least you would have a fighting chance of knowing which direction and where it was headed at what time. Conversely, if if doesn't go by, you know it got stashed and hidden somewhere in town so you can do some drive bys on closed garages. No need to run phone app all the time. Besides that, how awesome would it be if you were unloading in the parking lot and the guy parked beside you was on a stolen sled, your phone grabs a hidden Tile signal and sends it out. End of the day you come back from riding and there is a douchebag in handcuffs in the parking lot caught with stolen property. Would be nice to know we are watching out for each other without even knowing it.....

Its pretty cool that you could report a stolen sled (or anything really) and not even have to take your phone out of your pocket, get into a confrontation or say a single word to anyone. Makes life a lot tougher for theives that really want something, they now have route management to consider, where they are riding, etc., as you just never know if there is one stashed on the sled and who has the app on their phone. Reality is, on any given day, just stopped at a red light you could be reporting a stolen car, bike, TV, sled whatever, so long as the Tile was transmitting and you are within range. This is a great invention as it expands the network of people looking for your stuff, without them actively having to do anything.

For the very minimal costs - all manufacturers should be looking at something like this for all motorsports vehicles. Sealed container and without the chip, the vehicle don't run. Pretty simple.

I'm thinking that Garmin device might be really nice to try. I thought it would be a little pricier to get service, but $50/yr isn't all that bad.

Seems like a real good idea. It would be nice if it also acted as an explosive so you could instantly punish the thief for the crime.
