A friend gave me a head up on this.....
Just passing it on......
Does this mean that there is ethanol in all fuels including premium?

April 1st all gas in Alberta must contain ethenol, which creates potential problems for the first little while as ethenol also acts as a varsol and will be cleaning and suspending water and particles in the storage tanks that stations use. UFA cleaned all their tanks and installed filters but the question is, did the small gas stations do it.

So the longer you can run on a tank after the 1st, more likely the problem fuel will be pumped out. Or maybe if you have to, fill at UFA for the next little while.

Alberta extends bioenergy aid

Edmonton JournalMarch 29, 2011

Alberta is expanding and extending its bioenergy producer credits until 2016 and adding $58 million in 2011-12 to support bioenergy production for a total of $336 million over the next three years, the provincial government announced Monday. That long-expected move will give developers a guarantee of the support they can expect for projects such as two large, canola-based biodiesel plants proposed for Vegreville and Lloydminster. The developers of both projects had also been hoping for federal credits, but the EcoEnergy program was fully committed last fall and last week's federal budget did not add new funds to the biofuel program.

As of April 1 in Alberta, an annual average of two per cent renewable diesel will be blended into diesel fuel and five per cent renewable alcohol in gasoline. The greenhouse gas emissions of renewable diesel or alcohol must be at least 25 per cent lower than the equivalent petroleum fuel."

Alternative and renewable energy sources are a growing part of Alberta's energy portfolio," Energy Minister Ron Liepert said in a statement.

Awesome.. Fuel prices stay the same/go up, and they MAKE you have a higher fuel consumption, seems like some people are not content with the billions of dollars burning holes in their pockets

Looks to be that way, but what I want to know is this going to affect anything with my sled? Like the increased probability of blowing up your engine when running it in warmer conditions? This may also be the justification for the 10cent price jump at the pumps. But I dont want to get on to that topic because I dont need my blood pressure going up.

Yeah thats what I was wondering too.....
Hope a guy doesn't have to start buying race fuel for the sleds....

Ive done a little research and from what ive found:

Gotten mixed results on good or bad part for engine.

Theres 10% ethanol in fuel now, and the ethanol in the fuel robs you of 10 - 15% of the milage youd normally be getting with out it in the fuel.

The increased use of ethanol as a fuel is driving up food prices, because its made of corn, and drives up price of livestock in the united states because cattle in the us is corn fed.

Personally I think that were all screwed no matter what we develop for fuel from now on. Ethanol = higher foodprices Electric = Undeveloped and short ranges

Dont know too much about hydrogen, but I think that the oil sands is the stupidest thing we could have done. I enjoy snowmobiles and motor sports, but theres got too be another technology we can use for fuel. I think its bull$#!T that were paying what we are for petroleum products. Plastic, rubber, etc is not only harmful to the enviroment because of the oil, but posed health risks with leeching into our foods and drinking water. Bottom line oil = bad.

You ever lit a fart, It works. Methane is a viable fuel source. Theres a feed lot 30km from us that is self sufficient, it powers itself from cow manure.

There's nothing wrong with the oil sands as long as the money to reclaim the land afterwards is used to do just that.

Here's what an environmentalist told me once about the oil sands.
"Whatever footprint is being affected in Fort Mac is insignificant compared to the habitat available."

And Ethanol is just bas... all around bad, produces more pollutants in the air (burns dirtier) oh but by god there's less CO2.... pollutants are pollutants and it all displaces oxygen and blocks sun rays and refract sun rays and kills the ozone and yaddy yaddy ya
Not to mention the CO2 produced to refine the corn into ethanol trumps any CO2 coming out of your tailpipe... combined with everyone else

but its "renewable"

So Hugh's will be the only place to get non-ethanol fuels???

Who is Hugh's Petro?

If this is true that all gas is going to have ethanol that is very disappointing news. Not only does the addition of ethanol rob you of mileage but horse power as well. :realmad:

Ethanol, as previously stated, can be in concentration of up to 10% right now at the pumps.

the plan is to step it up to E55, E65, E75 and E85

all bad things

as i said, lower fuel economy, gets you at the pumps more often, makes you spend more money, prices will go up (ethanol costs more to produce than gas or diesel) all to make the petro companies richer

Yup all true and for anyone out there on a farm that has ur tank tipped back better empty it and make sure ALL water is gone!! This goes for old vehicles or anything that may have some water because the ethanol will disperse it throughout the gas and it will give u some major troubles!! And FAWK UFA!!!! Co-op all the way :D
