Equipment to bring on the trail for safety and survival

Now that I have more storage space on my quad I'm looking for more ideas on equipment to bring on backwoods trail rides. Here's a list of what I usually bring to be prepared for what ever I run into.

Spot satellite phone, spot technology rules!
First aid kit complete with back alley suture kit
Small foldable shovel
Basic tool kit
Spare belt and spreader bolt
Water
Extra synthetic winch line
Snatch block
Clevis
Small foldable saw
Candles
Fire starter
Spare gas if there's room
Flare gun
Firearm usually compact shotgun
Bear spray
Food
Binoculars
Knife
Quad manual with diagnostic code chart
Ether
Tire plug kit
Small air compressor

My kit is fairly complete I think...it's a bit of weight indeed but I hate being way hell and gone in the bush unprepared.
Have had to remove storage box to get through some rough terrain before.

I mean I think your really well geared up. You pack more then the average guy. I should pack more and have in the past but always seams to get wrecked or damaged bye water.

I keep a rag with the ether :d no room for portable welder though. Been looking at gps but I kind of like getting lost.

I don't keep a "permanent" survival pack together. It changes every single ride. If I'm alone for the day then yes, my gear looks like yours. I ask the group I'm riding with what they have for the day and pack accordingly. There is no use packing 10 fawking air compressors for the day... Lol I will leave mine at camp and substitute it for 100' of climbing rope. Etc. etc

Aspirin, ventolin, Benadryl,

Have it all in a pelican type case.

Then a small cooler of food and water

I carry a compass and a whistle as well. A roll of surveyors tape to mark trails.

I just bought a lincoln outback185 welder/generator I am considering to pack in the enclosed trailer on a major trip. Its a nice unit. Ours has the wheel kit.

Or one of these you don't need another machine to start a dead battery

You should have a look at the Kolpin gas caddies, I have the small one mounted on my front rack, nice and flat, and you can put stuff on top of it if you need to as well. Where we go in the mountains, we always seem to dip into our spare gas.

Not really a must have item,but my uncle bought a few pair's of these for us to
use on a few trail's that we frequently travel on quad's and sled's.Man do they work
awsome, will cut a 1/2 to1" branch with almost zero effort.
It's smarter to remove branch's on the trail than take the risk of someone getting one
in the eye or face.
