I am currently reviewing sleds to find a good sled to buy and I keep bouncing back to the summit. That being said I have heard that the 07 summit has had crank issues as well as clutch issues. That being said is the 06 and 07 800 summit a good sled that will be reliable or are they the type I will be fixing after every weekend of riding. I dont have an abundance of cash so buying many extras to make the sled run proper is not really an option for me. If they are a problem sled I might just have to settle for the 07 M8 or M10. Hoping for anyones advice

I'm not aware of any engine problems with the 06 summit(besides a $6.00 relay that fails). The 07 Adrenalines(later built motors) don't seem to have the engine and clutching issues that the X packages had. 3200km on my 06 and no problems (except relay).
At Pemberton last month (NOT BIGDAWG SHOOTOUT!) a stock 07 adrenaline 151 was outclimbing 163 XP's.

I have an 05 rev and with 3600km (600 km on new pistons) never a problem. Put new pistons in because of the ring issue on the 05 800's. Powderchowder has around 3400 miles on his 06 and its flawless. He also put new pistons in this last fall for preventative maintenance and the stock pistons looked fine. In my opinion the 06 is the strongest running reliable summit.

I bought a 07 Adrenaline last year with 200 miles on it. Now has over 1500 miles on it including a 750 mile 5 day ride around eastern Saskatchewan (@ minus 25-30) and not one bit of problems. The motor in this model is strong and the clutching has not been an issue (same belt all year).
In my opinion this sled is fantastic and now that the new XP is out these sleds have come down in price. I feel it is the best bang for your buck.

Tom at Motts machining tells me the 06 800 powertech is the best 800 from doo to date.

Would that relay failure cause the machine to die? Everything running OK, then just rolling stop. Spark, fuel, compression, will not fire. Confused, reading this, what is the job of the relay?

nope, auxillary relay, engine runs fine, just no lights or gauges.

1450 miles on my 07 running strong dropped my clickers so it only revs to 8000 insted of 8200 still pulls strongs and keeps me from doing to much damage running full throtle all day

Look at some other forums, they all have their problems. Find a sled in good shape and take care of it. And don't screw with it.
